Drank's Grow from the Batcave "Oh what a long road for such a tiny little seed..." - MonsterDrank

I would have to see it and get build spec part#s,but yes its possible . My first question would be ? How are they cooled?
Cooling is passive, with a rather large heatsink on the back, the driver and electronics are separated from the COB and heatsink by about a foot of cable. Also of note, the only real COB based light that available to me atm uses the Vero 18, which may still be worth trying out?

Ive run 75watt vero18s and they work very good. Nothing like the Vero29/CXB3590 IMO

Some CXB 2530 samples exist in-house somewhere... Might be able to rig those guys up. Just the COB though, not the nice plastic holder that goes to them...

So, I may have access to some lights built with these COB's (need to check with engineers at work) although they are not purpose built as "grow lights". Do you think it would be worth it to take a stab at rigging up a tent with these if I can get my hands on them? Also, maybe there is a better place to ask this question on this forum?
I'd probably make a thread right here addressing your concerns/questions.. There's a great amount of knowledge regarding COB technology and plenty of folks more well versed than I in the DIY area of expertise. It is a more appropriate area to post this type of discussion regarding your questions.

With the included lenses in use, the effect at 18" was the tops of several younger seed plants that were starting to fade.

Holding my hand at the same distance for a moment, it did feel incomfortable. So I did raise the light 6 inches. There is always re-circulating air blowing underneath the LED COB chips. I pulled the plants out of there.. foliar fed with some liquid karma and let them sit on the sidelines a few hours before putting them back in. They look much happier now.

The 500 w model from Optic is pretty intense. It throws off some heat.. and a lot of light.

I always dismissed Jesus OG because I wasn't a big fan of JTR...it was too intense for me. Way too much paranoia.. and I didn't like the way it made my heart race.

I've actually never had Blue Dream before. I had a wonderful strain called Blue Moon that was a Blue Widow x Vortex someone made.. that was absolutely dreamy. Smelled just like blueberry jam.
I just got the same light. Just wondering if you use inline fans to cool, if so what size do you use.

As of right now I do use a single Stealth 6 inch centrifugal Inline fan which pulls air through a Profilter 70s Carbon Filter that is scrubbing the room. I am also using an oscillating floorstanding fan which I am keeping aimed towards the LED light.. in an air conditioned room.

Truly impressive Monster! Have been interested in led lighting for a while.. The reduction in heat would make growing indoors in CA much easier. Will be watching closely.
well.. remember.. I am doing LED and HPS.. combining the two.. I would never do LED on its own.

here's what little I have learned and experienced thus far on LED for large scale grows seeking heavy yields with large footprints... don't bother. LOL... not to mention 99% of LED grow lights on the market are complete junk/trash.

now if your goal is to please the plant and get better terpene production, and increased resins.. 2000k HPS color temp with 4000k to 5000k LED lights nearby you can add Metal Halide or LED to your room.. makes a big difference. and yes having two fixtures depending on how you hang your lights you can either use the LEDS to cover the entire HPS footprint or do what I am doing, and keep the footprint separate...with the exception of the overlap areas. I am comparing the HPS and LED growth between different plants and trying to max out my floorspace btween all the different parts of the canopy.. its all experimental here.. I am just playing around.trying something new. I used to do MH plus HPS.. but I hate that.. multiple hot lamps. Such a pain in the ass.. I'd rather have the HPS and the LED COB Chips which are so small.. couple inches in size than a big ass reflector with a MH lamp and more ducting.

These Vero 29 COB LEDs tho.. I gotta say.. I like them quite a bit. So glad I went with the high power 125 watt ones at 4000k. They kick ass. The plants underneath them look flawless. So happy and lush. I am ecstatic about this grow.

Check out my current grow in my sig. I'm growing what you would call an elite plant. I call them super strains, but by the same definition.

Been really busy..I think the Longbottom Leaf (SFVOGK x Jacks Cleaner) needs to meet my A11g... got a few that are about day 18 in bloom

Heavy Yielding Dole Pineapple juice sativa colas with the famous Apollo soaring high meet the dense and super frosty lemon/pine & kush like expressions of the Longbottom Leaf aka Heart Attack Kush. This gonna be fun.

a friend's quote on longbottomleaf...
"The smell is amazing off this strain and for the smell alone is one of my fav weeds. It has a bitter/tangy fruity taste with a subtle to strong citrusy/piney smell, the citrus/pine smell can almost make you cough when its at its strongest just catches the back of the throat. It also has an amazingly strong old school skunky smell, that fills the room, when its just in your pocket. Really overpowering. I had a random person on the street say "nice perfume" when he walked passed me with a bit in my pocket waiting for a taxi."- K.B.

Longbottom leaf has been used as a breeding male in many crosses by Motarebel.

it's creator.. Loran.. is a private grower who resides out west. Old school hippie/farmer/breeder. He gifted me the seeds a while back.. I felt truly blessed as I know this was his best creation from word of mouth among breeders and friends.I believe he created this strain about 8 years ago.. sometime around 2007. I wanted it then.. didn't think I'd ever be so lucky to get my hands on some of these beans.

Longbottom leaf was nicknamed "Heart Attack Kush" by Obsoul33t of Franchise Genetics on a forum post elsewhere.. saw the name spread online in other places.. probably named it that due to the strong heart racing effects that Jacks Cleaner can have. He might have had a JC pheno.

Here's a shot I took for the skeptics to show tight internode spacing grown under Vero 29 COB LED lights...

i'd say they have great penetration. This one was 100% grown under LED

Really nice stuff can't wait to see more from the bat cave what is thought of these lady's and gents can't wait to post some bud shots of the lady's I get from this crop I got two water farm buckets for the ones I decide to keep...
To me the pheno hunt is more than half the fun.
I have 8 Cheshire Kush females from a single ten pack all in bloom right now.. finally I am able to start to differentiate which of the plants are going to stick around.. in a way, growing from seed has a negative effect on my grow.. consuming floor space that I could be using to fill with heavier yielding, high performing proven genetics. but I really wanted the picture perfect representation of what I believe the Cheshire Kush could bring to the table. Hopefully out of 8 females, I'll have a real winner for future runs. That and I'm a seed addict. I don't think I could stop growing seed plants if I wanted to.

Alphakronik's Cheshire Kush = Las Vegas Purple Kush x Gobbstopper

Great thread and very informative! Im growing Chernobyl (bloodwreck pheno). First time im growing it but its phenomenal!
It sure is. I have the "Golden Ticket" cut under T5 lighting as we speak. Veggin out.
I'm gonna clone her this weekend. I had and lost her a couple years ago.. was stoked to get her back.

Those lime slurpee terps with the cake like frosting on the dark red leaves.. Chernobyl is amazing. Very good strain. I haven't smoked any in years. I definitely miss it.
