oh, ok, i wasn't sure what strains he had listed in there..I found the thread but Dr. Gruber hasn't posted the Bubba OG (yet)........but I did see some other Bubba hybrids.
Hi SSHZ, I am about to get started on my first grow soon and I wanted to know would I be ok growing dr greenthumbs Bubba OG as my first strain?
Actually, a big resounding YES. It's been a very easy and stress-free grow. I think it's a great choice. I believe Dr. Gruber would/will agree if he'd like to pipe in.
I haven't had to flush once this whole grow, with one pinch at 21 days they stay nicely short, and they appear to be well done in 8-9 weeks.
I have seen a few male bananas towards the bottoms of 2 plants, but it hasn't been detrimental to the grow at all. I just plucked them off, and they haven't grown back.
Some of the best smoke I ever had (in effect) only tested out at 11% so thc levels are not something I really care about or pay much attention to. Breeders and re-sellers care because higher thc numbers means more sales. Just look at this bud I'm about to smoke and then tell me you care WHATEVER the number turns out to be. Dr. Gruber, feel free to post the number or message me, if you'd like. Or wait til I'm all done- it's all good (actually, it's all great)!
oh, ok, i wasn't sure what strains he had listed in there..
i agree with everyone else though that thc % is just a number and not much more.. some odd reason i find it hard to believe that strains from years ago that only tested 10% were 1.5 x's weaker then a 25% modern strain..
that was pretty crazy what dr gruber was saying about strains that didn't go as far test higher in thc then ones that go a week or more longer.. that alone kind of tells me the % number really doesn't add up to potency as i've yet to find any strain that i thought to be more potent after an early chop compared to the same strain given a bit more time..
I have mentioned in various threads before that I still believe pot I got in the late 1980's was still better than most things around today.
C99 from Mosca was the only strain I ever found that is better early than late.......
hey dr gruber, i think i asked this question before in your iron labs thread, but i forget the answer and thought i'd ask here since we're talking about it..
when you get the results back from a lab like iron labs, and they tell you the total thc %, does this number include the various thc, like thc a and the other cannabinoids, or is it stritctly only thc, and no cbd, etc?? thanks, and sorry for making you repeat yourself.
As SSHZ said if you look at the report it has the various cannabinoids listed and the amounts and the the total. You might have to zoom in to see it better because i can hardly see it myself.Racer......just look at the report. It shows the various cannabinoids (profile) adding up to a total number, which is the total Dr. Gruber reported.
At this point I will also mention I'm noticing a difference in high quality between the plants, which I also read about in a strain review elsewhere. I believe it stated the best plant was NOT a "looker" (i.e. best looking) but was noticeably stronger than the rest. I plan on separating out each plant when finished and personally spending my evenings (and possibly afternoons and mornings) looking for my standout! Shame you can't test them all Dr. Gruber..........
I generally look for an earlier flowering plant, good (or better) yield and overall plant appearance.......but after many years of doing this, I've learned I typically pick WRONG. When looking for a mother with this strain, I'll take my time, save a bit of each plant to smoke myself, keep all 8 plants alive in a re-veg process and decide down the road.
I'll save you a clone after I pick the winner.......LOL
very interesting....thank you!High Times generally sucks but they had an interesting article last year called "Talking Terpenes", which is one of the more "understandable" reads on cannabanoids and terpenes and how they interact with other.......we'll worth a read.
