Double Harvests/Plants in darkness for last few days...

I would like to know what your thoughts about going 24/0 darkness for last days before harvest(plant use whatevers left to synthesize nutrients etc?).

If that didnt sound like a moronic thing to say is it ok to do the double harvest even after the plants been without light for 3 days?

It would be 0/24. Lol.
But I usually do it for 2-3 days. I've heard of people doing it for 2 weeks. But 3 days sounds just right.

im still in the middle of my first grow i have about another couple weeks

Synthesize nutrients? hahahaha no the plant doesn't make fertilizers man the idea behind this is that TOTAL DARKNESS for the last WEEK OR TWO will make the plant THINK THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END and produce mad amounts of RESIN or THC and therefore you end up with higher quality marijuana.

Hey mom, look, I grew a fertilizer tree! Its making me nutrients!

I would plant one of those in all of my ops and save hundreds of dollars on nutrients hahahaha.

I personally dont water my plants the last week of their lives, and i keep them in darkness for 2 days prior to harvesting.

It saves on water and electricity. The water thing is so they dry a bit quicker and the darkenss thing is to get the last little bit of stored energy i can get out of them. If it only adds 1 extra trichome, its worth it.

some say give it 14 hours of light the last week or so to help it use up all its stored energy faster or some shit then u give it 24-72 hours of dark..after the darkness period chop that bitch down..

Some say this, some say that. Just because someone says something that is then repeated on the internet does not make it true.

Lab studies done by the U. of Miss. published by Mel Frank shows that THC levels are increased by lower RH and temps during flowering, and harvesting during a plant's night cycle. Can you tell any difference by smoking, I doubt it. Only a lab test with a control group will verify this. Anything other than a lab test is merely conjecture, speculation.

Since its photosynthesis that produces a plant's flowers, with all the materials that go along with that plant part, why would you want to do exactly the opposite of what's natural regarding a 0/24?

Treat the plant like normal maintaining healthy leaves until the end for the best results. I doubt if giving a plant oddball dark periods will do anything other than please the grower who wants to believe in them. It's phytochrome levels and photosynthesis that drives flowering, and once you hit the magical 12/12, it's a done deal.

OMG u come off like a dick stop acting like ur the prince of pot or jorge cervantes..i told dude "some say" cuz he asked if he should go with 3days of darkness then 24 hours of light then pick his plant..and the guy i heard that from (the reason y i said some say) is up in the game..i didnt hear it online.. so back up foo and remember ur a NOBODY..i do my own thing i dont listen to much people say to me..people on here talk bs all day long cuz they wanna sound like they know everything..me i do my own thing..i've picked a plant after its 12hours of light ive picked one after 12hours of darkness, picked one after 48hrs of darkness and also 72hours of darkness. if u dont wanna try it cuz u think its all hype then dont and dont come on threads bashing the thought of it if u dont do it

have u ever tested thc levels on a plant then give it 24-72 hours of darkness then test em again? doubt it

Look you retarded jerk off, the only thing you've done by depriving the plant of light is reduced photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is what drives bud production in the first place. Be a good boy and go yank some leaves off your buddy's plants.

ive got a lil grow going on just 9 clones in soil, and im a newb aswel but i am going to give this a try on 1-2 of my plants just to see if it makes any difference like 420baby said u dont no if you dont try it.

i heard if you stab a nail threw the stalk and turn it the plant will think it is dying and return dump a coat of resin all over the buds to protect them and prolong its life.. not sure tho never tried it

yea i know a OG grower in my area that swears by this but i never tried it..i got 3 og kush plants going right now so i might try this on one of em and see what kinda difference it makes

If more resin/trichomes is what your after you'll have better results using purple maxx snowstorm though out the flower cycle rather than 24-36 hour darkness before harvest.I have tried this just for kicks on a strain I have been growing for a while...and I really didn't see any difference....if there is an increase it is miniscule and cannot be seen with the naked eye...on the other hand purple maxx snowstorm will frost up your nugs like no other , the difference is very noticeable.
