Don't F$#@ With Mother Nature

We were just checking out the latest news and came across more news on the weather in Brazil
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/11/26/2430050.htm?section=justin

We've had probably the wildest start to our storm/wet season in decades. While in the Southern States, they've had snow one week before our official Summer starts. Even our deserts have had more rain in the last month than at least the last ten years
Cali is getting some huge Winter fires.

I think we should be getting the message by now. Mother Nature is taking steps to readjust the balance.
Has anyone else been experiencing extreme weather, or out of season weather, or sudden onsets of extreme conditions?
Is the Canadian Ice Road to the mines going to passable this year?
Will the Arctic ice cap form properly this year?

I'd like to see and discuss other smokers' views and experiences.

The ice road is passable every year, just sooner or later in the winter. Although it is un-seasonably warm right now....

If this keeps up, we Aussies might finally be able to say that we've had a white christmas?? Considering that christmas is in summer here, that would be kind of cool. :eyesmoke:

The two greatest things are skiing and weed to me. Although being in knee deep powder in the middle of nowhere in the backcountry gives a better high than mary jane ever could. I never knew you were that far south for some reason i thought you were bordering toronto.

a week ago it was 60 F over here and over the course of 3-4 days winter came on, and froze the lake in 3 days... normally it takes a couple months for the lake to fully freeze.

Is the length of time getting shorter, or does it usually have a predictable life span? I probably sound like an idjit, but where I'm from -2C is considered extremely cold.

So, is this all out of the ordinary? I know that the storms in our capital city are worse than I remember. In the seventies their were some good ones, and a lot of cyclone (hurricane) activity. But nothing as concentrated and as fierce as the storms that have been going through up and down our coast this time of year. We have 13 declared Natural Disaster Areas in our state alone and the cyclone season hasn't started yet.

There's no need to be concerned...these things must come to pass. The Earth will always balance itself out when it gets off balance. It functions very well in that department...humans have some catching up to do.

I think we need to live in tune with the planet, rather than fight it every step of the way. We're the only species that, through our actions have accellerated global climate change.

I know how that could me misinterpreted. My inlaws live in the GTA, and we're up there around 6-8x a year. Sadly we don't live up there...yet.
