this makes a lot of sense...never thought of that. i've heard sooo many times that urine is helpful. makes sense....also as i've heard from others in the thread, dog's diet does make a lot of sense too...however, why has the grass grown up so much? could it be that this is a piss spot for other dogs? or maybe feces in general, promotes bacteria growth and general organic decomposition? when bacteria feed they produce many beneficial elements as i'm sure you know...just a thought, maybe it isn't the nutrients so much as this decomposition factor? what do you think?
 
First off I have a dog ass well, infact I have a large breed of dog. I believe that picking up after it is part of the responsibility of owning a dog. As a kid I stepped in my fair share of shit and it sucked (and stunk). It's not nice for the kids. If you have a baby you clean up after it. You choose to own a pet so you should take responsibility for it or not get it in the first place. I hate to pick it up and my friends make fun of me for it, but I chose to own a dog so that's my issue. I'm not here to fight about it and don't get me wrong, I'm not here to bash you for not picking it up. I'd just say try to remember when you were a kid stepping in dog shit and why do you want to pass that on?

As for why not using dog shit for fetilizer, if I'm not mistaken (which I often am) it has to do with the bacteria on the shit. Same with human shit. The bacteria contained in it can be toxic to us as people and it's not something you want. Cow and sheep has different bacteria which can be benificial and is less harmful to us. If you use dog shit or human shit to compost you would have to be very careful about how you interact with the final product to keep yourself safe. With cows and sheep it is a lot safer to handle. Now would it work? Yes it would, why wouldn't it? It will decompose and make a good fert. One other major factr is cows and sheep produce a shit load of...shit. It's like why not drink the milk from a skunk? It's closer to human milk and better for us, but trying to mass produce it is rediculous. Cows are great because they produce volume, so mass production is great. If we used dog shit would have to be home made becuase comercially it just doesn't make sense. Hell it might even be better if you try it, but you'll never see it on store shelves. The price would be crazy.
 
defcon, while i appreciate your words of wisdom...i didnt create this thread to argue about my responsibility as a dog owner. as a kid i was smart enough to stay away from where i knew dogs shit too. i'll stop doing what i do when the ten to fifteen other dog owners in the immediate area do so too. so in essence people leave the fucking topic alone. i'm gettin tired of it and tired of having to respond to it. do you honestly think that what you have to say is going to make a change? i mean really? this is a pot growing forum...the only change i'll make according to anybody on this site will be to my plants. thats that...so save it please
 
im not here to bash you i know you think i am and i am not!! how we present are selves here on this site IS a big deal!! YES i am on the net ALL THE TIME i run a few sites too and do know what i am doing. threatening people is not too smart!! some people here know how to do things that others don't;). instead of saying yah i did do that and now that i think of it your right and i will try to be more respectful about letting my dog shit there you want to curse at me. never said you were a bad person at all we all have good in us and we all have brain farts now and then. and because OTHERS do it don't mean its right!! it would be nice to see a pot smoker act more respectable then the rich banker down the road that's doing it. kids dont look thy just run there minds is every were BUT the ground.

No worries man. Like I said I just remember stepping it as a kid and it sucked, but you are right you wanted to talk about fertilizer and it's getting off topic.

That being said, let's get back on topic. So are you going to try and use some and see what happens? I would say if you are it might be cool to see how a compost that contains dog poo might work. If my dog is out in the back yard and craps near the garden I usually toss it in my garden and let it compost and my flower bed is great. No issues with it at all. I know dog pee burns spots on the lawn if he always pees in the same spot, but when he marks all ver the place the grass grows great.
 
Defcon is correct, dogs have some type of bacteria in their feces that can make you real sick. The poop itself is extremely good fertilizer. I used the poop from my dog's to fertilize a sunflower I had. The flower grew to 12.5 ft. tall, no shitting. I got pics. somewhere. Anyway, I would not use it on anything I plan on consuming because you can get sick, unless you heated it to a hot enough temperature to kill the bacteria. But for $4.25 you can get a 50 lb. bag of Black Kow, so in my opinion all that shit ain't worth it.
 
if he pees in the same spot i'm guessing the urine makes it too acidic? good info though. thank you...i may try this next year, if my space permits it. i'm moving this june so we will see!
 
NOW RABBIT SHIT is great!! duck shit works good too. dog shit WILL make you sick.thy eat meat. if you let meat lay out over a day or soo you wouldn't want to eat it would you? just like useing bone meal if you smoke weed thats been fed bone meal you can taste it in the weed(tried it one time) and yes did over a two week flush and could still taste it!! i am testing with deer shit right now(deer farmer;)) on some plants i started 12/12 from seed and now have 4 foot bushes. my avatar is a strain called Vietnamese black and was grown with rabbit shit and molasses and to tell you the truth it is the best i ever had!! rabbit shit is right up there with bat shit and i am finding that deer shit is right up there too. but thy all eat greens no meat.
 
really this many posts about dog shit really? buy some ferts from the hydro store. now ive heard aarvark shit is the absolute bests but you offten have to wrestle it from a bear. but if you dont win bear fecis is almost as good.:finger:

yo dude i have done it before i grew 3 plants in my yard trained them with rope to go around my hedges near pool used nothinG but water and dog shit,however i used only dry brittle sun bleachEd shiT that seemed close to breaking down completely ,its also alot less fouling odors,and i also have urinated in small amounts in soil only ofcoUrse NOT ON BUD right before watering,serious shit i t works real well, i did start with doLlar store potting soil,but those girls got huge,real long,i sold the finish product as high grade canNabis,real sticky indica bag seed.THE SHIT WAS SUPPLIED BY MY DOGS,THE PITBULLS,LOL.

yes...probably very high but nonetheless i grew up on one pair of fucking shoes a year asshat...and my feet did grow, thats why my parents made us buy shoes a size bigger

No ideas about dog shit, except once some hippie told me that there isn't anything of value in dogshit cos the dogs digest it all and their shit is almost 100% waste. All I know is Cat shit, especially kitten shit is toxic and loaded with evil bacteria. Kitten Shit, the world's #1 cause of TOXOPLASMOSIS. Don't mess with kitty shit. And don't let kids play with kittens.
