lol, you know atz right? like otto's brother atz? i'm pretty sure atz is jewel's dad or step dad or some crap like that..
no shit? did that one girl ever have her baby? Man that's too remote for me We are semi-rural but w/ easy access to metro area. I couldn't be that isolated.

Hey have any of you ever seen a short movie about Dick Pronneke called "alone in the Wilderness?" This is the coolest shit. A guy spends about 25 years alone in the Alaska wilderness in a cabin he built from scratch using the most BASIC tools. He also filmed himself over the years. It looks like there was someone there with him, but he filmed it all alone. It's phenomenal. Great stoned show to watch Here's a clip of the dvd:

Well in my enraged opinion meat is not meat. Killing dolphins is murder. There is nothing cultural about slaughtering Flipper. I saw "The Cove". It was disturbing and sad...but that's those friggin Japanese, they aren't fully human. They kill whales that are endangered and don't gaf about the consequences. Same with the Chinese. They still eat animal balls like Viagra. And sharks fin soup will supposedly make you courageous. LofuckingL.
In a society where you have so much to choose from to settle for an animal most people have as pets is inhuman.

Sorry, but some animals are for eating and some are for cuddling. Dogs and cats are pets, not a menu choice.

i wouldn't knowingly eat cats or dogs, anymore then i'd knowingly eat bugs... but in all honesty, not any different..
I Think i'd happily eat them. Especially bugs. They're just land prawns :)

Culture has nothing to do with this. Culture A likes to torture their pigs to death, therefore it should be wrong to eat pigs, wait, nope. And killing an animal to extinction, or an endangered one, that is totally different as well. There are a shit load of dolphins, why is it "murder" while catching a marlin to mount, or a mahi mahi to eat, is absolutely fine. Why do you deem one to be "murder" yet for a different animal it is not? How is killing an animal not just killing an animal, why is there suddenly a differentiation between killing two different animals? Why is it murder to kill a dolphin, but killing a sheep is just step 1 for sunday lunch?

And millions people have pet rabbits, but noone seems to have an issue with a nice rabbit stew.

Awww, Danny! Tell that to pigs as they're being fattened up… I am a meat eater not really by choice but necessity. I went vegan for a year and a half and my iron deficiency worsened AND I felt lethargic and looked ill. I can just take or leave meat. It's not that it "has a face", it's just that I love other foods more. So, went back to meat. I agree with your statement that it's inane to eat/almost wipe out a species for some obscure part of it like the balls, or the dorsal fin, absolutely, but I do believe all animals are equal...

this one is a tricky one
since most people have grown up to believe slaughtering 5 billion farm animals is okie dokie
theres not much i can do to presadue anyone and i respect your thoughts on it
but thats my opinion
meat is meat slaughter is slaughter dont act like you give a shit about animals when you eat them

thats how i feel

Those men in Japan don't kill to eat. They kill bc the dolphins eat the same food they're trying to catch. It's murder. But then they take the dolphin meat and (loaded with mercury) put it in cans labeled TUNA and sell it to people.
And I do care about animals. I want them killed humanely and with dignity. I would rather and I may just start buying from a local grower and know that it's organic and cared for and killed properly. It's just more expensive.
Are you suggesting I need to be a vegan to show that I care for animals? I think one can be carniverous and still care, don't you?

Citation please. genuinely, i'm interested in the facts behind this.

And remember, this kind of thing happens in lots of areas. Not too long ago there was a huge scandal in the UK with horse meat. There was zero regulation or control over the lives and deaths of those horses. But why does a controversial thing like that in one country mean eating horse is bad? And remember, americans kill bears and such all the time which to me, has little valid reason. By your posts you clearly have a very big issue with Japanese people. Maybe relax and take all of that out of the equation and just focus on the actual debate. Would you eat a dolphin steak if it was set in front of you? There is no Japan to consider, nothing but will you eat it knowing it was a dolphin, killed in the most humane way for arguments sake.

Nope I couldn't eat Flipper. They're too intelligent. They're practically dogs. The citation info is all in the movie The Cove.
Oh god I don't have a prob with Japanese or Chinese but their wanting to eat things that clearly are endangered or rare is disturbing.
I didn't know about Americans killing bears. But that's just as awful.
I would feel better knowing the meat I buy was treated humanely. I mean, it gave it's life for me in a way so it bothers me to think it died senselessly. Life is a precious thing.
Good topic, I don't usually get too into Vostok threads. Lol. No offense. Well maybe just a little.

Imo yes I agree killing an endangered animal is not the same as killing a cow that was raised for slaughter...killing dolphins is savagely irresponsible!
