Sounds like a sport to me as long as it is conducted by the rules captainkush posted. I think everyone who is pissed at this is sick for denying the dogs the joy of sport. I personally wouldn't fight dogs, as I have no desire to, but if I did it would be by the afore mentioned rules. They are not sick people because they have different beliefs than you do. Personally I think they are well within their rights to do so. Animals are lesser beings than humans and DO NOT have the same rights that people do. The fact that they are responsible enough to put in place a set of rules says that they actually care for the animals and are probably treated better than any pet you ever have or will own.
You call this a sport? lol
I said that the abusing of the animals is sick, not the fact that people have other beliefs. I'm all for people having their own beliefs but when it involves the abuse of animals, I just cant agree with it.

..and like you said, animals are inferior to us humans, right? That means they depend on us for food, shelter, love and care. For you to take advantage of the fact that "they dont have the rights that us humans do" and use them for fighting is disturbing.

I dont know what planet you're living in if you think these fighting dogs are treated better than the dogs that us loving owners have. What.. because of a set of "fighting rules"?? Are you serious?

How does the dog benefit by being in a pre-arranged dog fight?
Are you just posting without reading anything? The dog fights out of its own free will, they are put in the ring but they have to cross a line for the fight to start if they don't want to fight they won't cross the line and they will be disqualified. Is there anything inhumane about that?

The benefits it receives are outside of the fight unless you consider being able to defend yourself better than 99% of other dogs beneficial. They eat like kings and have excellent health care.

Exactly, if everyone thinks dog fighting is bad then thats a serious disillusion. I honestly think that some dogs would probably prefer to fight, they get treated great for the fighting they do and once they are past there prime they get retired and get to be in a loving home and still be treated greatly. its not like these dogs will fight in old age anyways.

pitbulls are not aggressive until you make them so, once you turn it into a fighting dog it is an aggressive animal.

its people who own dogs like these that give other dog owners who care for their pets hard time.

in the uk they are looking at enforcing compulsory pet insurance for all dog owners, because of the few that train their dog to be aggressive. This insurance is in case your dog bites someone else. Everyone is going to have to pay it even people with little rat dogs that don't leave the house.

Congratulations you created another multi billion industry where someone can rip us off further.

Your talking about the instinctive fight or flight self-preservation mechanism like it is some sort of a choice that they make.

Yes there is something inhumane about taking a dog to a fight with nothing for them to gain.

I say they are treated better because I have seen these dogs and how they are treated. I would these same dogs around a child. I came to these conclusions after I was told they were fighting dogs and still overcame a biased opinion. The way the "gangsta's" conduct dog fighting and the fact that the fight them to the death is wrong to me as well but I have made the distinction between the two.

My dog eats like a king and is the healthiest dog my vet has ever seen in 22+ years of practice. She doesn't have to fight for what she has nor would I ever want her to.

Well even if they do fight, if they start to lose or get it badly, the owner(if they are decent) will take them out and forfiet because they want there dog to live another day.

They do gain something though, they gain a lifestyle most dogs don't get, they are treated to amazing food, good sleeping areas and the best medical attention, i honestly bet that some high class fighting dogs are treated better them some people.
