Does Spraying Neen Oil on Cracked/Exposed Stem Prevent Infections?

I made a minor crack/tear in one of my stems during super cropping (flowering is starting or about to start outdoors). Will spraying a diluted cold-pressed neem oil solution onto the wound and surrounding healthy foliage help prevent fungal infections and other problems or?

I did this earlier in the season when I made a couple major splits and breaks while attempting to tie down branches to LST and spraying with neem oil seemed to help.

Neem is an insecticide, not an anti fungal. I’d also use neem lightly and not at all once flowering starts. Tape up the break and provide some support if needed, and she’ll likely fix herself. Neem had nothing to do with it last time.

It is indeed a fungicidal as well, research up on it.

If you know, then why are you asking. I’ve seen neem used to treat issues like powdery mildew. Never as an antiseptic for a wound, but I may easily be wrong. Good luck to you.

Thanks. I am asking because I want to know if the prevention and defense-system mechanisms from neem oil work on the exposed stem the same way it does for the plant leaves

Right. My understanding is that it doesn’t. Atleast I’ve never heard of it used that way, but rather only used to treat foreign invaders externally, both pests and mildew/fungus related issues. But the plant is really resilient. Broken branches will generally heal themselves with a little support and tape. In my limited experience, anyway.

I have literally split stalks in half (not on purpose) when super cropping....just taped them back together and the plant eventually "welded" itself back together, so I don't think it's necessary to spray a cracked branch with anything. The plant has built-in evolutionary mechanisms to heal itself.

Are you using neem max? Or straight neem oil? Also would you break another branch and treat it in the name of science? Thanks

Cold pressed neem oil solution 1 tsp per quart with a few squirts of dawn soap.
