i just started growing 4 new seedlings, 3 of the 4 have already sprouted. ive started them in a small pot with miracle grow soil. this is my 2nd grow so im still learning. on my first grow i used fox farm nutes, but i think i may have started to use them too soon. should i wait a while before using any nutes since miracle grow has some in the soil already? or should i switch to fox farm soil as well? any tips or advice? thanks!!

fox farm ocean forest is always your best bet, if you keep it in miracle grow i would wait a lil while then maybe a use some fox farm big bloom, i just used some on my seedlings the other day and there lookin pretty good

It was one of the first lessons I learned: soil really does matter. Can't go wrong with fox farm light warrior, but my BlackJack plants love the Miracle Gro violet potting mix...they go ape shit over it.

Ocean Forrest is thier worst soil if you want to go organic with FF better to get Happy Frogs

if you don't care about organic it is better to go with a soiless mix, I prefer SunShine Mix #4, but I like to be in control

If you add ferts to that miracle grow you will burn your plants or kill them all together if you do while they are still seedlings. Get them out of that micacle grow as soon as they out grow your pots or when they have some stong roots.

i only plan to let them veg for about 16 days before i push them into flowering, and i think im going to transplant them into bigger pots 2 or 3 days before i start flowering. should i just wait until i flower to even use any kind of nutes? or if i use one of those fox farm soils, will nutes even be neccesary? and what if i keep using my miracle grow through flowering, do you all still recommend nutes? maybe just at half strength?

OH YES it matters!!! I say sunshine mix #4 it's PH nutral and has no nutrients in it so you'll always know what is doing what when adding new nutrients well atleast you'll know it's not the soil effecting them. Just my 2c

My friend is currently using mg organic soil and some sort of mg tomato nute at 1/8 or 1/4 strength. He waited about 1 month to start nutes. Just start out slowly and don't feed until they look like they need it.

My advice is to use a better soil and better nute though... just saying you can do it if you need/want to for some reason.

You need to transplant at least 2 weeks before flippin em to 12/12 if you only wait 2 or 3 days your wasting your time (and soil) as the roots slow way down once you flip em

how come its the most preferred among growers then? i dont ever here anything good about other fox farm soils. ocean forest seems to be most popular, is there a reason why you dont like it?

where can I find that info??? most of the "experienced" growers I know hate it, your statement should be how come it is the most preferred amongst new growers in forums???

I tried it once (based on forum reccommendations) and had all kinds of problems with defenciencies and have read several threads where others had the same exact problems. in order for FFOF to be good it needs to be ammended with alot of stuff and I prefer control so I stick with a soilless mix

that doesnt make any since, you say you had problems with defenciencies using ffof but youre talking about using soilless mixes, you do know you should still use nutes with ocean forest right? its not a time release soil like miracle grow is. and all the "experienced" growers I know use FFOF and we've never had problems with it, we love it!!

No it is not a FF product, goes for $38 a bale where I live (bale equals 4 bags of OF) it is a peat based medium that is PH nuetral and when ammended with calcined clay it is the shit, google PH MANIFESTO and read it

It all depends on what you prefer really ^^.. I like to mix FFOF with some perlite and it works quite well. Of course im sure happy frog and other would work well too. All in all Foxfarm is a pretty good company, or at least I have had good experience with their products.
