I really need a straight answer.

I can buy a small bag of MG perlite for about 7 dollars, or I can buy the non-MG perlite in a BIG bag for probably 15-20 bucks. I don't need that much, but I don't really want to use Miracle Grow ANYTHING.

Is MG Perlite a bad idea?

please help :leaf:

Well, I read that it has small amount of nutrients and minerals in it, which is the cause of the white powdery substance on the perlite in the MG bag. I've read that people shake this stuff off before putting in their pots. So are you saying there are minerals in there- but not enough to put a shock in my nutrient schedule? or as best as you know, there is 0.00% nutrient content?

I was actually just looking at this old bag of perlite in my garage and it says "Nutrients will feed your plants throughout the grow!" Right on the bag. So be careful.

Realize that 0.04% is negligible. 4/100 of a single percent.

But yes, i grabbed a bag and it does say that.

Actually it's quite confusing.... it says at one location "a non toxic, sterile, odorless material. Then it has the ingredients listed elsewhere. Then it says "improved drainage & aeration in POTTING MIXES enriched with miracle gro ... that's a slick way of saying you'll need to ADD nutes to this.

I wouldn't worry about it....traces only....to be legal I suppose.
