Does classical music stimulate plant growth?

There is a whole episode of this topic on myth busters... I think it was the heavy metal music that did the best.
Either way you should check it out.

I remember seeing that, ages ago, too. If I recall correctly though, I can remember thinking that the test-methods were not a true test for some reason, or their conclusion wasn't 'quite' valid or something. maybe I'll go and have a look and find out what my problem was with it.

...unless I'm thinking of the one they did about being happy vs sad, near your plants.

I might watch them both right now. :)

(Do plants have feelings?)

(Talking plants mini-myth) ...the music one.

Ok, so the talking vs silent control could be attributed to the talking tents being opened with air exchange and a bit if CO2 (a bit) from breathe, whereas the silent tent, it is not said whether that tent also gets opened and breathed near. The music tents might be vibrations, wonder if some air pulsing silently would do the same as the music. Perhaps a vibration both higher and lower than the two music samples.

Off to watch the other one. :)

The plant being touched needed the sensor to be protected from the rest of the plants environment in my opinion. Not sure what to make of the thought experiment, I don't believe in woo, or coincidence, so it is a tricky one for me to try to explain. Sort of stuck looking for the third option, while assuming that no trickery is involved. I trust that Mythbusters don't deliberately bias their experiments outcome.

Pretty trippy, though.

I'd love to hear an explanation, it will probably rob me of sleep. :)

Certain frequency ranges will open the plant stomata. I'm dead tired right now and can't think of why that's important, but with open stomata you can increase co2 and foliar feed. Maybe an increase in overall nutrient uptake.

Sound frequency is a part of Electro-Magnetic culture. You can use electricity as well as magnets to change plant growth. Tho none of this is common here.

I know this is an old thread but I have wondered about this for some time. I am thinking of getting small radios for each of my grow rooms and just leave them on low volume so they cant be heard in the main portions of the house.
