Does anyone know the Penalty if caught importing seeds to the USA?

Just wondering if anyone who has ordered seeds out there have had them seized? If so whats the penalty for it?

it varies from state to state, as each state has its own statutes. personally, i recommend getting them online.

I've been hearing from alot of ppl. that they just seize them and send you a letter telling you there was contraband in it and if you want it you have to pick it up. That's where I hear if your try to pick it up they'll fine you. Who would really try to pick them up after getting that letter? lol!

pretty much is just the 'customs letter', some rare follow up
so much depends on where you are, seen some follow ups in indiana, kentucky

Just trying to make sure since your dealing with the mail it's not going to be an automatic Felony? Although I've heard you can have seeds legally for all different purposes; to eat like sunflower seeds,for birds,etc.... but to germinate them is where the crime starts.

At our state fair the Hemp movement stands always have HUGE bowls of seeds(10,000+) for people to eat at random. The cops never mess with them as long as the citizens aren't taking seeds and walking away with them. You can buy them for food purposes and it's suppose to be legal but you cant grow them! We need to change these laws quick,alcohol is killing so many people while cannabis has never killed one person from using it. Vehicle deaths: Alcohol(111,000) Marijuana(7)! How many people do you know that smoke a joint and go home and beat their wife? How about alcohol?

my understanding is that it is illegal to posses viable cannabis seed in the US
sterilized seed is fine, bird food, human food, etc.
from what i've seen of follow ups on seed orders, there seemed to be no interest to charge the growers with 'seed possession'
they used the delivery info to further investigate, coming up to residence without warrant, but to start a talk with addressee
i suspect the penalty for just seeds is not high per se, at least not without some other evidence
