DOES A HEPA FIlTER GO ON THE InSiDE OR THE OuTSIDE OF A GROW TEnT?

Does a HEPA filter go on the outside or the inside of a grow tent? Am I trying to pull air through the filter by placing it on the outside of the tent so that the outside air is first sucked through the filter and then through the intake fan? Or do I want to push the air past the filter by putting it on the inside of the tent and sucking the outside air through the intake fan first and then pushing the air past the filter and then into the tent? I have read that pulling air is more efficient than pushing, so I'm thinking more towards putting the filter outside the tent and pulling the air through... Is this right? Does anyone have any ideas??

p.s. im using a growlab gl120 tent, 4'x4'x6'7", 5" vortex inline, 4" HEPA filter with 5" to 4" duct reducer to connect them

Ok first id ask do you really need an intake fan??? Why not just have an exhaust fan and create negative pressure which will allow yoou to have a passive intake thus eliminating the need for an intake fan lowering your Pg&e and saving you money and making it more quit.......

My tent is 4x4x6'7" and just create a passive intake by opening up the intake hole and using my 8" exhaust fan to pull air in through the intake hole.......If your exhausting air then you have to pull the air from some where which mean it will get pulled in through your inlet hole.....make sense..??

Now to answer your question you put the hepa filter on the outside and the air will be pulled through the filter......Now you can do this with a dedicated intake fan like you are suggesting or you can do it how im suggesting with no intake fan eather way put the hepa filter on the outside.............. What size exhaust fan are you going to use?? I use an 8" but you can get away with a 6" if you prefer......I like to have more fan then i need and just use a speed controller to set the fan at whatever speed i want........when its hot turn fan up when its cold i turn fan down.......

Are you getting the whole " passive intake" thing is it makin sense??

Thank you very much for the reply, I thought the HEPA filter should go on the outside, I just needed a second opinion.. but as far as the exhaust system, I forgot to mention that I'm using the 5" Vortex for my incoming air and I'm using an 8" for my exhaust.. This keeps the negative pressure of the room just fine :) thank you for the help though I was really stumped about where to put this filter!

Dude you have the same size tent as me and you have an 8" exhaust fan...... Now i know for sure that you DONT need that intake fan thats just over kill and waste of money......Your 8" fan is plenty strong enough to create a passive intake bro.......Im not hating im just tellin ya the truth.......Your makin it harder then it needs to be.....Your tent is only 4x4 like mine theres no way you need an 8" fan and a 5" fan for a space so small........do yourself a favor and just use the 8" fan for exhaust and passive intake.....
