Does A Carbon Filter Remove 100% Smell

Makes sense. But still, I´m running a 420CFM fan on a 8x20 filter (rated for about 600CFM), which seem way plenty for a 4x4 tent. So am I wrong in thinking there should be no problem, since I´m pushing a rope through a large hole?
That will be fine.

I oversize myself.

I also rebuild and refill. I got pics in my thread but I'm on my phone.

Well, I´m running CXBs + QBs on a 4x4 tent and it is never really hot around there parts, so I´m not much concerned with temperature. And I would understand that the air blown into the filter would be pushed out through the charcoal so yes, I would be venting it out. The fan is running on its slow setting, so I´m not much concerned about wear and tear (even if it were at high or whatever).
If you blow through the filter, how do you then vent away that hot air?

Because the filter is not a balloon, or airproof in any way, and it is outside the tent? I dont see how the air would be pushed back through the duct against a powerful fan, or a lot of pressure building up in the filter.

With hid or other hot lights when you blow through the filter it heat the room up around the tent and you pull hot air back in.

You are running cobs so its not a problem.

You at least understand what i mean about venting out of the room. Cobs still make heat, my 4x2 has 400+w of cobs and i assure you it makes heat. Philip, there is never a reason to be dumping hot air back into the room your tent is in.

Thanks man. Noted that circulating hot air into the room raises the general room temp (although I dont really see how pushing/pulling in itself would make a difference in that respect, because you can pull and still vent to the room). Good thing the average ambient temperature around here, during the day, is about 67-70f year round.

fucking awesome! i need temps like that in my life. If you pull you are able to connect ducting to it and vent it away from the room.

Not only heat. Its the moisture also. I tried venting back I to a basement one time and it caused mold from the increased humidity.

You can build a box or put the filter in a bucket and put a flange on it and then exhaust outside and still push through the filter.

I prefer to pull.

There is a difference in the types of carbon used.

Coal based is not as good as coconut based. Its not.

I've bought several types and tested.

There is a reason for price difference. You get what you pay for and not all carbon is equal.
I never said all carbon is equal, aquarium filter carbon is what ive suggested repeatedly. Its always good quality and less expensive than a hydro store because large stores and suppliers carry it in LARGE quantities. Its less expensive because of business, not quality.

I buy it bulk from online. Coconut carbon.

Aqaurium carbon doesn't last as long.

Bulk hydro carbon isn't that expensive.

I posted a link a while back from where I order. I'm on my phone. When I get to my computer ill post it. Normally around 60 bucks for 16 pounds. It was on sale for around 40 for 16 pounds.

A 16 pound box will refill a 4 inch 4-5 times.

Aquarium carbon is designed for water. Look for bulk air carbon. It is more porous.

You are lucky. Try that in 100 degree weather.

I would have to strongly agree with haze010. $160 dollars for peace of mind that no smell or leakage of smell to my neighbors or even guests in my house is priceless. You will have a horrible smell during flowering and I don't care what anyone says but no product including ONA GEL will eliminate the smell 100% that your plants give off during flowering. I can tell you that prior to about 4 weeks ago I didn't have a carbon filter and every time I would walk into my place "smack" right in the face. I couldn't have guests over or anything. It also creates great airflow in your tent and removes a lot of unwanted things from your tent like mold spores. If you're looking into a nice carbon filter system I'd be happy to share what I bought and know works.
I would like to know what you have as a set up. What products do you have and how is your grow tent set up

This is actually a question regarding the whole post.- to haze010-. Im rocking

G-Leaf 6 inc Duct silencer

Growsun Air Carbon Filter, 6in by 16 in

G-Leaf 6in fan with a 6inx16in carbon filter. Both 312 CFM

Vivosun 48”x48”x80” grow tent.
What do you recommend for CFM for the grow tent. Im planning on using the silencer, carbon filter and fan outside the tent for air intake, but want to know what type of fan and carbon filter to use inside the tent to scrub the air. I don't want smell as much as possible. Im thinking of only growing 4-10 plants, depending on what strains I decide to grow. any advice and the set up. Also I plan to have 4 6in fans in the tent at each corner for air circulation and have a 4.5ft x 3.8ft LED grow light. Any advice

Im not sure what to tell you man, theres something ive never heard of there and ive used carbon in industrial sized cleanups for odor for well over a decade. Its true carbon wont scrub every molecule but its normally ones like carbon monoxide because its already a carbon based molecule. Anything carbon wont scrub shouldnt be coming from your plants. Something in your grow must be offgassing a specific thing but im not sure what gas it would be from a grow. I would be able to tell you exactly what with air testing equipment but im stumped what it could be coming from your grow.

Maybe youve got different additives youre using that are combining for a chemical reaction that you dont know about? Same idea as the ammonia and bleach chemical reaction that everyone is aware of. Youve got something wierd going on there tho man and its not normal.

hey man i know the thread seems closed. but i want to ask for help,
i'm staying in place that is totally does not welcome the smells. im living in a studio with 4 windows which i can open it 24/7. is it possible for me to grow in 2x2x4,5? or does it really needs to be in a dark place where there is no source of lights other than the one inside the tent?

i'm planning to plant autoflowers in hydromars 2x2x4.5 grow tents kits, its including a carbon filter, and 200 cfm inline fan, with TS600.
so far as i know to count the CFM of the grow room is 2x2x4.5 = 18, if i want the air to be exchanged 3 times per hour = 54 CFM is needed ( PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG!) and also i'm gonna buy Ona gel aswell because after ive done some reasearch, that's the best deodorized stuff. do you guys think its optimal to get the air smells totally clear for the hallway, specially neighbours, and get the best harvest (specially yield).

planning to plant gorilla glue and northern light...

Every tent will have light leaks, the cheaper ones have more light leaks than the more expensive ones like Gorilla tents, BUT you can definitely flower a plant inside a tent in a light room as long as you are careful about patching up the leaks and especially about making sure no light is getting in through the vents.

CFMx60/vol.

Get a 4" fan and run it at 1/2 speed. Too many cfm and the carbon won't have enough dwell time to scrub the odors. For autos, light leaks don't matter. You won't need carbon until week 5 or so.

yooo didnt expect that fast of respond hahaha..
anyway regarding the fan, it seems like it comes without speed controller, is there a way i can install it? anywaaay, does brand really matters for inline fans? cause i found a chinese brand with 160 cfm including speed controller.
