does 12/12 from seed cause harsh taste and burn?

Have any of you ever grown 12/12 from seed and gotten a shitty hay-like taste/smell?

https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/774886-how-do-i-make-drying.html

This is my question about drying which I asked because I thought improper drying was the cause of my shitty bud. But then it ocurred to me, the only tasty dank batch I ever did was with a vegetative state and no 12/12 from seed. But I also see how this can be just a coincidence so I wanted to know, have any of you ever harvested a crop 12/12 from seed and ended up with relatively good taste/burn? don't get me wrong the weed gets me high it's just a horrible quality... I flush with florakleen for 4 days before harvest incase you're wondering about built up fertilizers.

If you can't get the conditions correct in your drying closet, maybe try to water cure a few buds and see if you like that. The taste and smell is diminished when water curing but the smoke is very smooth.

If you chop early it tastes like hay. No, its not because of 12/12 from seed. Lots of growers do it with decent results. If you dont wait long enough for the buds to ripen they taste gross.

I harvest when almost 100 percent of the trichomes are cloudy! cloudy as hell I tell you! with orange hairs!

there can be a thousand (literally) reasons why you weed turned out the way it did, but i can say for sure it had absolutely nothing to do with doing 12/12 from seed.

^thanks, I need to harvest crops consistently and frequently. I am working with a really small closet and a really high tolerance ahaha. going through a veg stage would take up way too much time.

a few tips that i feel can help improve flavour, no facts, just my experience.

keep the plant as healthy as possible for as long as possible but at the end i like to see a fade to the leaves, this can be achieved by dropping base nutes towards the end and making sure they aren't getting a high nitrogen level in late flower.

harvest at the end of the dark period if possible before the lights come on.

if you can place them in darkness for a couple of days before harvest it can enhance the smell and flavour.

dry them as slowly as possible, if they dry quickly this can make it harsh.

don't jar before it is fully dry, if the stem is not snapping it is probably too moist.

and finally be patient, it takes a long time to grow dank, there is no way i have found around it lol.

"I flush with florakleen for 4 days before harvest incase you're wondering about built up fertilizers." This would be my guess. Why flush with anything BUT water?!

Why is it that so many people talk out of their ass on here? if you can't give correct information shut up! Chopping early doesn't doesn't make your cannabis taste like hay. A hay taste has to do with the way it was dried. Not flushing will give you a chemical taste. Crackling is a common sign of excess chemicals in the cannabis. However this is usually not an issue unless doing hydro. In my personal experience using just water the last week or so will allow the plant to use stored energy and have a more natural taste. Fan leaves that turn yellow while flushing during late flowering is completely normal and is a sure sign that nutrients are being used up. Does anyone do any research of their own? How does one with so much rep give such bad advice? How do I take rep away. WTF does "growers do it with decent results" mean? A shit ton of people grow solely from seed. Every Crop. They grow seeds to mature plants and flower them. This is done all over the fucking world with excellent results. In fact, better than most people on this forum. It's obviously amateur hour here a lot.

florakleen supposedly speeds up flushing from 7 days to 2 and i've ready many great reviews! Sue me!

and @couchlockOR, he wasn't talking about just growing plants from seed, he was talking about growing plants from seed with a 12/12 cycle from the beginning, skipping the vegetative cycle. and by the way I worded this post I think it's obvious "decent results" is referring to the taste of the bud when smoked and the smell of the bud when you break apart a nug.

Hay taste is improper dry/cure...or shit growing conditions...like cheap dirt and miracle grow, not enough light and so on and so forth...keep em healthy

Are you putting seedlings into flower? Plants grown from seed need to be grown until they are mature before flowering. Usually about 3 months. If you put a newly rooted clone into flower you may get a few grams. If you veg it a month you can get a few ounces. Stop being a fucking stoner and you might actually produce some ganja.

Everyone has an opinion;-) You can grow from seed in a 12/12 cycle but...yield would be greatly increased with even a short veg period. I have not done this, purely what I have read.

Can't we all just get along hahaha!

IMHO....

"Hay" taste is most likely dry/cure prob

Growing from s33d's @ 12/12 is no problem, you do not need to veg for 3 months

Throwing newly rooted clones into 12/12 is also fine....SOG run

Stay a stoner,

& choose wisely what you listen to on here.

I agree with cure/dry contributing to taste/harshness more then when you chopped it, alot of medical users chop earlier because of issues with high THC content cannabis, I myself chopped in week 6 of harvest and it was fine, quite different effects; no heavy body buzz in my personal experience although it was just random genetic bagseed so that could contribute to type of high as well, but in general chopping earlier is for higher pre-thc cannabinoid preference in your smoke, I personally preferred this last harvest and will cut early again as I just tend to feel bogged down with typical late cut stuff, but everybody is different anyhow, good luck on your next grow.

Drying too fast can cause a hay smell.
Check into the middles of your top colas, make sure you don't have any kind or mold or budrot.
12/12 from seed has nothing to do with your issues.

The only difference in 12/12 is that your plant will go into flowering the moment it is mature enough to do so.
You lose out on around 6 hours of growing time per day for around 2-3 weeks, depending on the strain and how fast it matures.
That certainly diminishes your yield.
