Do you think this could work as a grow tent if I modified it?

I almost went with one of those but I thought about it and it would be a pain to light proof. So I looked on craigslist and found someone giving away a full size wardrobe for free so I grabbed that and sealed it up with caulking then painted flat white. Did some other mods to it and was good to go.

nice flares..... i am on that quest, looking to expand my cabinets. I have an entertainment center that would make an awesome grow cabinet.....3 levels mmmmm eh my wife would kill me "my mom gave us that!!"
<sigh> the quest continues
oh yeah light proofing is a pain (if it's a concern that is?) i would still consider a grow tent they aren't that much more and if nothing else they usually already have vent holes :)

I suspect the floors would need reinforcing, too. I saw an ad for the first one, too, and immediately though "grow tent!"

i have used a canvas wardrobe b4 there is just too many light leaks its not worth the hassle the light will penetrate the fabric

Wouldn't see it being worth the hassle. However, since you already have credit there you're trying to use, you could easily throw it in a closet and use it for a veg tent. Pump some cfls 24/0 and you wouldn't have to much worry about light leaks so your biggest task then would be making the walls reflective. Personally I would't have much faith in making it a practical "bloom room" though. Good luck with whatever route you go!

You can get a pretty decent grow tent for around 100 bucks.
Seems you would spend that + more trying to get it up to par.

You would probably have to coat the entire outside of the tent with something to lightproof it, then there's addressing the inside for reflection.

I built a 24" x 36" x 60" tent out of 3/4" PVC pipe, black trash bags, space blankets, 2" foam board for the roof, some threaded eyelets, 5/16" rope, and tape. 40' of pipe and 12 elbows came from a store to the tune of $23; the rest I already had. I can even break it down for storage and salvage most of the trash bags.

I would have rather found a big wardrobe or cabinet or something like Flares did. Lightproofing, ventilation, and stringing lights is all easier when the enclosure has hard sides. I needed something fast and nothing was nearby and cheap, so I got what I got.

I didn't read whole thread but I'm sure its been said already but almost the same cost you can get an actual tent designed for growing, Google dude :leaf:
