Do you think I should just harvest now?

Hi guys. I’m a relatively new grower as this is just my second grow. Last time I think I harvested early. This time, I’m growing a 9-10 week stain. Currently in week 10. I started flushing in week 8 so pretty much two week flush now which I have learned may have been a wee bit early.

Anyways I have a crap loupe and hard to take pics with it. I do see lots of milky trichomes but also some clear and hard to tell if any amber yet. My concern is the leaves are yellow and purple now and getting quite brittle. Do you think I should just harvest now rather than risking the yellow getting into the buds? Or do you think I still have some time to get some amber? This is CB Dutch Treat which is a 2:1 CBD strain and looking for a nice pain relief strain. There is so much mixed info on harvesting cbd - whether it’s better to harvest early or late or waiting for amber.

I’m not sure if the leaves going purple and yellow and brittle is a bad sign or just normal

Thanks!

Thanks Hugo! I flushed with a little higher PH which may have caused some issues so am going to lower the ph some and give it some more time. Thanks again for the advice

Drop your light cycle for the next week or so ..... it will FORCE the flowers to mature a bit faster.

To 10/14 .... it makes the plant believe winter is chasing them so they move to mature faster.

Also your “ flushing “ is leaching the medium of Nutes that the flowers STILL want.
Feed them a light bloom feed ... say 1/2 or less . Most growers find tapering off the feed at late flower is more desirable instead of a straight starve out at end.

Thanks for the advice. I did just that with the light feeding. I think next time I’ll jusg taper off the feedings rather than completely flushing. I’m going to take your advice and change to 10/14 as well and see how it goes

You want thise orange hairs to start shrivelling up and going back in the buds before you cut. As the hairs start to receded the bud will fatten up round it and start to see the resin ozzing out giving you as much bud as possible.
A little trick I use it to put them into darkness for the last three days after flushing heavily. This seems to always fatten my buds right up and once cut the seem to dry more uniformly.

Thanks Zombie. When you say you put the plants in darkness for 3 days after final flush, is that the last 3 days before harvest? Or do you final flush, 3 days of darkness and then lights back on until they finish up? I may try that next time. I really love this forum with all the ideas out there.

I grew 3 plants, all the same strain from same seed supplier. All 3 have progressed differently. I’ve actually already harvested 2 of the plants since they were 20% amber already. However this last plant has taken much longer and turned purplish. The buds are wayyy bigger on this one, so I guess it is taking longer to ripen up than my other ones. I’m hoping the buds aren’t all damaged from the early flushing since the leaves have dried and become brittle and purplish. We will see how it goes!

The purple could be a genetic of the seed and the purpling shows it getting ready. I grow a lot of clones from a purple plant which I have no idea what it is as was given to me by a friend who was just told they were really rare. They seem like any other green bud until about two/three weeks to go and then they start to turn a vibrant red/purple colour and its so beautiful to watch.
As for the lights off, it's flush, dark for three days, open tent, chop plant, hang upside down, close tent. Two days later I'll open the tent and remove 90% of the leaf. Then I chop the buds off the main stem and ditch that and rehang the broken down stems.
Takes a little bit longer to dry that way but drys more uniformly and leads to less chance of bud rot if you forget to burp the jar for a few days.
Learnt that the hard way .

Not saying its the best way for everyone but after 20 years of growing the drying process is the one thing that I never mess with now after years of trial and error.
