Seattle, WA has raised their local minimum wage to FIFTEEN dollars an hour. Contrary to Repub propaganda, not only is the sky NOT falling, but unemployment is down and the economy is booming. Why?

Maybe because a bunch of wage serfs at the bottom of the wage scale found themselves with discretionary income and they're spending it... and in the process creating more economic activity for everyone.

The republican fallacy of low minimum wages being good for the economy is blatantly, demonstrably false- they only keep promoting it because it's good for the bottom line of the megacorps who fund their campaigns.

That's something worth discussion because I've actually seen varying reports from WA saying that the sky IS actually falling. an article I read this morning was specifically saying how badly it's hurt local restaurants.. saying some have stopped serving lunch and some may go out of business all together. Do you live in WA? I'd like an inside take on it.

So all this good stuff is happening in Seatle, and the minimum wage increase hasn't even started?
Those stupid republicans and their predictions.

WOOPS.

"With the council chambers standing room only and supporters waving signs declaring “Seattle needs a raise” and “$15 good work Seattle,” council members approved the new ordinance, which will go into effect on April 1, 2015, and be phased in over the next three to seven years depending on the size of the business."http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-seattle-minimum-wage-20140602-story.html

typically deceptive nonsense.

spinning straw into shit is a specialty of all lefties

seattle's current minimum wage:
$10.66

when will it be $15?
2018

why isnt "the sky falling"?
because seattle already had low unemployment numbers, currently hovering around 4.7

way to turn a simple story into a lie by exaggerating and forgetting the other factors involved.

do the same shit in LA, or Detroit, or Chicago, and watch the city turn itself inside out.

seattle's "minimum wage experiment" might as well have been carried out in Beverly Hills or Malibu Colony for all the "experimental" value it has.

The coercive government fallacy that their uninvited intervention into what should be a private interaction between two parties is a good thing, is the root problem. Flailing at the branches of the tree is not striking the root. Peace.

Wouldn't it be just as good for the megacorps to force small local businesses that can't afford to pay 15 an hour out of business?
