I didn't say I wouldn't feel bad.

My Mother was murdered in 1973. The SOB is still on Death Row and my taxes feed the POS.

Find someone else to pick on. I have lived this nightmare for 38 years and have more 1st hand experience with this than ANYONE on this board. Trust me. I can't wait to see that fuc*er strapped to a gurney with poison pumping in to his veins. I will be the last face he sees on this earth and I will be smiling like a MOFO

Sorry you lost your mom that way but it doesn't change a thing. Execution should not be retribution or revenge. Suppose that person you want on the gurney is actually innocent, would you get the same pleasure? Or lets say that my mom was on death row and she didn't kill anyone, is that any better, should i feel better about it?

That is an irrelevent question, state sanctioned killing has nothing to do with risk management, it has to do with its understanding of justice (or as has been stated, retribution). We could reduce the risk of theft by killing thieves, after all, who is to say they won't steal in prison?
your just like these other guys ..........its not what u want to hear so its not impt..........

I am always fascinated by those who espouse the death penalty. Without exception, those who are for the death penalty are also for smaller and less expensive government on every level. The problem is that the death penalty is very very expensive, it costs far more than a lifetime of incarceration to have the state (or feds) kill someone. Of course those types may well say "don't give them appeal after appeal and chance after chance". If we don't then we more and more likely risk killing an innocent man - and those same folk, invariably don't believe in "killing the innocent" (abortion). It is not prudent to for the state to execute and I don't like knowing that they kill on my behalf.
Here's your exception.

I am a limited government Conservative.

I oppose Capital Punishment. There are many reasons to oppose it. I have listed several. My logic is sound.

We anti-Death Penalty Conservatives do exist.

I didn't say it wasn't important, I said it wasn't relevent - and it isn't.
I notice you don't address the fact...that state sanctioned execution is not revenge. The murder's crime is not against you but against the people of the state.

Note what I said - I said that those who are FOR the death penalty (and you say you are not) are for "cheap" government. You do not represent an exeption.

I oppose the monopoly of force by a single entity...government. I think people that harm others should restitute those they harmed. Killing a person for a "crime" does not restitute the person that was aggrieved.

We reject your argument because it's a stupid argument.

Even if what you claimed were true, it would not matter one bit because prison is a dangerous environment by definition.

And the possibility that one person could be executed for a crime he did not commit overrides any ersatz concern you have for the well-being of other convicts.

Where is the problem? - you stated that you are not for the death penalty. I said those who are FOR the death penalty are for smaller government. I never said that those who are against the death penalty can not be in favor of smaller government. Your point of view (In my opinion) is consistant.

I did take note, which is why I made the point I did.

Unfortunately, many limited government Conservatives favor Capital Punishment in spite of the fact that it is more expensive.

I am an exception. As is the Doc.

But we seem to agree on the subject at hand, so let's focus on that, shall we?

It is so expensive because we allow it to be expensive.

Your primary argument seems to be if there is a possiblity of the person being innocent we should never do the death penalty.

How about that muslim officer that killed about 20 people on that military base? Do you think there is a chance that he is innocent? Do you see a chance for him to be redeemed and returned into society?

I am for the death penalty because it is expedient. If someone does something so vile to get that sentence then society should remove them from the face of the planet in an economical way so we dont have to continue to support their worthless lives.

It's called due process under the law.

Which means the Constitution makes it expensive.

That's ONE case where guilt is pretty certain.

But even so, the appeals process while due process takes its course will make the process more expensive than life without the possibility of parole.

And I don't think anyone would agree that if found guilty, he should be released under any circumstances.

It is most certainly not expedient!

And it is not more economical.

LOL.

It is expensive because we allow appeals up to the supreme court. Maybe there should be a way to expedite some of the cases.

Is there something you do not understand about the concept of "due process?"
We have more of an Overdue process... ER: Death penalty cases requiring appeal up to the supreme court even if the inmate has pled guilty and does not want the appeals.

What I am saying is change the process. We have DNA, video, and so many other technologies that were not available back in the day.

i guess if someone killed someone i love id be for it or against it depending on what they did i might just want to get even myself. unfortunately there is alot of terrible people out there. but then again theres the innocent guy who gets put to death then it makes you think about second guessing the whole deal. wouldnt want to be in the shoes a man that didnt do the crime and your looking at lethal injection pretty scary. plus my bf killed a guy when i was young and watched the media twist the story it never made me believe everthing i read since. so end answer depends on situation i guess.

Fix a bunch of issues with in one fell swoop. Fence off Texas, lower Arizona, New Mexico and California. Throw all violent offenders in this area.

You get rid of the violent offenders (Escape from New York style)
You have a buffer from illegals coming into the country.
You get to see how true, deregulated Libertarian policies (anarchy) work in real life............... =)
