Do you suggest topping plants?

Hey guys first time grower here. Im trying to learn as many of the advanced grower tricks as I can (not sure if you want to call topping advanced).
I just heard about topping. I have 5 clones, 1 Blue Dream and 4 Purple Haze they are about 4 -5 weeks old each plant is about 10-15 inches each. They just got on their flower light cycle about 3 days ago. They each have a good amount of stalks coming out and I was wondering if it is a good time to top them for their first time.
It would be my first time topping and I wouldnt want to screw my girls up.
so if I do it would be nice if you guys could suggest somewhere that will teach me how to do it well or just let me know how I should top them.
I know the point is to take the top few fan leaves and new leaves away so the stalks have more light and room to grow up.
Let me know your oppinions on this.
Im only going to include one picture let me know if you need more.

you usually want to top the plant while it is still in veg. every time you top, you will get 2 new branches plus side branches depending on where you top. i usually stop topping about 2 weeks before going into flower.

Just read some more stuff. Im not going to top during flower. It will stunt their growth and the yield will be much less.

Will Topping them right after they went into flower be an issue?
You won't get that big main cola but you may have
lower colas that swell bigger then they would
of if you didn't top. So I guess its which ever you
prefer?

Good weight in big top buds and some alright lower ones or
a good weight in lower buds and no top buds.

I wouldn't top when the plant just started 12/12.
It may prove to be too stressful.
I'd stick with LST if you plan to train at all.

Only top and shit in veg,and let your plant recover back to growing normally before putting in to flower.Once theyre flowering just leave them to get on with it

Some plants don't like being topped, but I've found that to be the exception to the rule.

A couple techniques. .. Take a seedling, let it grow 7 nodes. Cut the plant above the second true set of leaves. Clone the top. The cut plant will grow 4 main colas. Cut it anywhere above the second node, and it will only make 2 tops. Uncle Ben came up with this one, and it works.

... Take a plant, let it grow about 20 nodes, take the tops off of every branch but the top one, and then switch the time to 12/12. Should get popcorn with one big cola.

...Take a plant about a foot tall, bend it 90*, then start to train the top in a circular motion following the outside of the pot as it continues to grow. All the side branches will now grow tops. At 6 weeks, train all of these tops 90* from their vertical growth, and trim all of the growing shoots. wait 2 weeks, retrain, and flower.

There are other techniques, or come up with your own. It won't take long for you to learn what happens when you do this or that to a plant.

I start all my seedlings and after they start their single adult leaves they go under 1kw hps 12/12. A fim and clone is possible under these conditions prior to the seedlings showing sex. There is no point in topping a clone unless it is a mother.
