Do you sample the goods early?

As the title says, do you chop a nug a try it while still flowering? If so, when? I just finished week 4 and pulled a baby bud to try out of curiosity. It's got me sleepy and yawning! It's a granddaddy purple.

No, not untill week 8 or 9 would I consider it.
And at the point its still kinda pointless.

Week 4 of flower you are almost just smoking plant. Trichomes haven't started much at all yet, and what ones are on there are very immature.

I used to take samplers when I was a younger, new grower and low on weed to smoke :). I learned easily that fast dried samples are not a good representation of the final product and it was a waste of buds that still had lots of growing to do.

Heres a few more key pointers for a new grower:

The best smoke comes from FULLY MATURED healthy plants with good genetics.

More nutrients does not equal bigger buds, so just feed them what they need to be healthy don't try to slam them with nutes.

Maybe if your growing a 10 or 11 week strain with mild effects.
My favourite plant finishes within 8 weeks. Its not pointless picking that shit after 6 weeks, done it many times, my immature quickly dried weed( overnight on xbox) beats nothing at all, and I’d rather that then pay for PGR damp moldy crap.

But at 8 weeks it’s fire, 9 weeks the same with less sweet flavour.

I’ve had many occasional tokers green out on this shit, and I always pick within 8 weeks.
Bodhi Seeds, Sunshine Daydream.
Cannabiogen Sandstorm
Both these are absolutely done at 8 weeks and the Sandstorm window opens after 7 weeks

Happy to document it next time I finish one inside

I agree with mudballs

I take samples to figure out the best time to Harvest. I harvest for effect first and flavor second, not what trichomes tell me.

I typically first try smoking some the day I jar it. Plucking something off early and smoking it seems to give you a harsh smoke and inferior buzz. You really aren’t learning much about the final product, and unless the weed you already have sucks balls you are going to enjoy properly dried and cured weed more.
