Do you need an air stone for water cloning?

Do you have to have the water circulating or bubbling to clone in water or will it work every time just cutting them and dropping them in the water?

When people typically use a bubble cloner they keep the stems out of the water just slightly and when the bubbles pop on the surface it mists the stems like an aerocloner...the mist isn't as fine but it doesn't really matter. I'm not sure how much faster they root doing this vs. just putting them in a glass of water.

Either use an air stone or just replace the water daily. I've been super lazy before and forgot about extra clones sitting in a cup of water for days and the were fine. But if you want healthier cuts then aerate the water.
