Do you leave your fans on 24 hours a day?

Hello guys and thanks for looking in,

I had some advice on a seperate thread about putting a curculation fan in the grow room to blow air over the plants which helps build strong stems and helps prevent bud rots and molds etc.

Thanks for the advice so i have put a 6 inch mains clip on fan in there to blow over the plants and keep air moving around them.

My question if i may is do i now leave this fan running all the time and also the carbon filter fan which is pulling air out 24 hours a day? or run them same time as the light settings??????

What do you guys do?

I have three fans. Hood fan, oscillating fan, and general grow area fan. The hood fan only runs when the lights are on, but the rest run 24/7. You cannot give your plants too much air circulation. You can give them too little. Run them all the time. Why do you ask? Are you concerned about electricity usage from the fans?

i run my fans 24/7 and my stems are nice and strong

And, I think it helps control the bugs?

yeah now that uve mentioned bugs, ive noticed that at times theres small lil flies in my soil but real lil flies, know if thats bad?

I've got those sucker too. I take my plants out every other day or so, move the soil around, spray with neem oil if I need to but they still come back. I have those sticky traps up too. The fan sort of blows them onto the stickies.

No the cost i know is low for the fans i will run them 24 hours a day really excited about this grow now! should be a good one!

I think I'm watering quite a bit more now that my fans are going 24/7 but I love tending to my garden anyway. Good luck with your grow. Post some pics for us to see your progress.

I shut the big exhaust fan off when the lights are off, leaving two intake fans that keep a slight breeze coming through the system. That way I can sleep at night.

That's how i use to run my system but the carbon filter needs to work contantly to pull the smell as it was building up on me when the lights and fan went off this was not good and prompted me to look into this i'm glad i did.

fans run 24/7 except for the fan for the light

Could be fungus gnats or could be something harmless, like fruit flies.
Do you sterilize your compost before you use it?

I always either microwave then growing medium for 2-5 mins or bake it at 150*F to ensure any bugs or fungal spores etc are dead before i use the soil.
never had bug problem yet.
try to have a look at one under a microscope, and use google to identify if its friend or foe.

ooops and yeah i always leave my fans on 24/7 too.
Great air circulation is a must.

I have seen and understand the need for an inline fan and air cooled hood. I leave One 364 CFM inline fan on 24/7, pulling air into the attic. At the same time here in flowering I run another hood fan inline as well for the 12 hours pulling air from the room to cool the light. The room where my grow tent is located is about 74 degrees. The tent runs between 71 and 82 degrees daily. Is there a need for the two inline fans? Can I run the hood fan pulling the hot air from the tent 24/7 only instead of both. I really want to save electricity and I want to make sure that I can run the hood fan 24/7. Sorry for the redundancy. Does this make sense. Come back. Thanks in advance.

you want gentile air on the plants more is better. 24 hr is good.

OK thanks. Can I leave the hood fan pulling the hot air from the tent only 24/7. Is it ok to pull the hot air from the tent when the light is off through the hood light? I do have fans pushing on the ladies but I am wondering about pulling the hot air out though the light.

If the light is off you don't need to pull heat. right? I use a cool tube and that fan runs 24/7

hmm, u can harm ure plants by leaving your fan on them 24/7. ive done it plenty of times. although if your fans are facing away or there from a distance then wind isnt a problem

Mine is on the same timer as my light, 12/12 so no.
