right now i'm looking at setting up a (4) 1000w hps grow room... along with about a 2400w (flourescent) clone/vedge chamber. the structure is about 1300 sq. ft. I -will- be alternating one of the hps Off while the vedge is on. No more than like 5400w for this stuff. using much ventilation with ozone generator and air cooled light hoods.... to cut down on any need for A.C. I would never think about using more than this. I know a guy that was using 16 (600w) hps fixtures... but he was renting the house next door and splitting the electrical usage between the two adresses. An A.C. unit alone (or a space heater) can easily draw 1500watts. Figure two a.c.'s or two space heaters winter/summer can easily draw 3000watts of electricity. So 4000 is pretty safe. 5000 is probably pushing it.

some electrical companies also look at 'cyclical patterns of electrical use' and that is what would be written on a search warrant. i am not as up to date as i would like to be on current precedents in marijuana law, but as far as i know.... evidence of an Indoor Garden isn't, in itself, enough for a search warrant. There must be evidence that the indoor garden is for growing -marijuana-. Ie; don't have a single leaf of grass (weed) in your garbage, etc.

i hate helicopters. where i used to live they were always flying over and i would always kill the lights. where i am now, no heli's, thank goodness.

most ops get busted because loose lips sink ships. traffic. somebody leaves ur house and gets busted, bam, they got what they need for a warrant. No one should ever know that u are growing. Ur trusting that person with ur life and, more importantly, ur freedom.

Yeah, as long as you are safe, quiet, courteous, smart, and keep temps regular you should be fine. Remember to pay your bill on time, regardless of how high it is.

in a apt I would go no more than 600w set up.(nine plants) Thats what i run and no problems. But u need to have a apt the is low keyed and does not attract attention.

Do not tell anyone, not even ur girlfriend

Dont sell from the location. Do not have any items that would make it look like you maybe dealing. do not have a scale in house, no excessive amounts of baggies, etc)
Make it appear you consume your product,. Have bong in the room, papers.

if you do these steps you can help minimize that the chance that IF you do get busted, you can claim personal use and get a drug treatment program, if u live in
california.

Also pay ur electricity bill on time, all that stuff is automated now days, if you a late on ur bill then humans start nosing around your account.
Do not steal electricity u will get busted.

DO not get greedy, better to run a small set up and not go to jail than get greedy and lose ur freedom.

also use a water cooled sytem with a air conditioner and a filter system. This way you dont have to vent in fresh air, you dont have vent out of the room, heat signature is normal, low noise

that's what I originally wanted to do, a four 1000w setup with an aeroflo 60 site with like 20 soil plants. ran out of money a little quicker than I would've like though :/

only nine plants on 600w?
I wanted at least 20. do you think off one 1000w hps/mh conversion bulb 20 would be fine and electricity/cop-wise I should be fine?

i was just thinking about this ...
just added a 400w hps and 100 watts of cfl
currently im doing 18/6 on the 400 watter and 24/7 on the cfl ... but i think ima change it to 18/6 also ... just make it come on as the other one is going off or somethin... in a month ill be able to do the 400w 12/12
this will make my avg daily usage up 8.6 KWH per day ... just over 50% more power usage PER DAY
i do own a 4 br house tho ... just have been conserving until now.
think this will trigger any flags ???bongsmiliebongsmilie

what sucks hardcore is i get charged .10 for every KWH and then another .10 for delivery ????? WTF is that ? .20 per KWH total ... somebody please tell me im not the only one ??:wall::wall::spew:

2000w is going to be alot if heat to deal with.

my 600w bulb MH puts off about 140 degrees of heat when running, ideal temp at tip of plant is 76 degrees.

Now u have a light that is putting off 140 degrees of heat and it is 18 inches from ur plants. Thats a lot of heat. I run a air condiotner set to keep the room at 70 degrees. I use a water cooled system to help to cool the bulbs.(FYI I have to use a 55 gallon drum of water to to cycle through the water for the water cooled systems.

Plus remember you got fans running, pumpes, etc so there are other stuff thast will use electr

I grow fewer palnts but get bigger buds, I could gow probaly 12 to 15 under my light but I grow for my own use so I rather get bigger, denser and danker buds.

Yea u can grow 20 under a 1000w if u want. They will grow.
Cops/electricity cant tell u, too many factors, like where you live, what are the laws in your community, what ur neighbors are like, etc.

I'm gonna need a lot more shit than I thought.

so right now, I'm thinkin one 1000w mh/hps conversion bulb, I'm assuming I need a ballast to run it unless I can just rig it somehow to run. then something for ventilation, just a reg. AC unit maybe? foxfarm soil, 20 five gal. pots and a light mover.
either that or I could just move the plants instead..

Look at what your TV takes for power! If you turn off your tube, 2000 watts will hardly show...in fact, it could even be less if you run one of those huge tv's. I have one 19" color, older tv that says it takes 1500 watts. Then there are space heaters most of which are 1000 - 2000 watts. There are a lot of appliances that take a lot of juice (watts) that you just do not use but have around. They see those there is a good reason for light usage. It should never get that far, but if it does, that will excuse the power usage. Now, as for the reason they were looking at you in the first place, you may want to do a little search of what else could go wrong...an ex girl/boyfriend that wants to take you down.
The big thing is to tell no one! Tell no one about your grow, sell nothing you grow.

i have a 3 bedroom house with electric heat. i swapped all of the house bulbs to CFL and lowered the tstat for heat by 10 degrees and started up my 1000W bulb
my power bill went down
i wish i would have swapped to CFL all thru the house years ago.
save electricity where you can and noone will ever see 2000W of power
