Do you have to have a male plant?

I've been reading...SO MUCH reading...but I'm confused as to whether or not you actually "need" a male plant for pollinating purposes. If I clone my mama plant does that mean I don't need a male from that point forward? Oh and thanks so much for this newbie forum, I don't know where I'd be without it )

Yeah, if you clone you wouldn't need seeds..... But if you have only one mother plant you'd be smoking the same bud all the time.

You really don't need a mother plant, just take clones from your vegging clones. (saves space)

As long as you got clones from the mother then your good to go ,

Or just clones from any veggin plant

I only keep males for when i want to crossbreed or just get some extra seeds

the mothership will work for now, I'm just trying my first go at it. I actually 'inherited' these plants so to speak from my SIL when he never came back for them after they got a new house. Actually this is all I'll be growing for a bit. I want to buy some seeds but I don't know how being in the USA. I have space for a grow room so maybe next time! I love it here!

Actually I have three females, one of them stinks like hell but the other two are milder in smell. I'm thinking of cloning that one and one of the other ladies. They seem to be really healthy plants and they are budding like crazy right now.

Any pictures of the ladies?

Why do you want a male? Are you breeding? If you pollinate you'll get SEEDS, decrease in potency, all bad news
dude males and pollination are a truly beautiful and unique part of the cannabis breeding process.
hand pollinating a single branch on a good sized plant can produce well over a hundred wonderful, vigorous hybrid seeds.
males are all good news if you know exactly what to do with them.

i would personally recommend the breeding chapter (chapter 17, pages 425-468) of Jorge Cervantes' book, Marijuana Horticulture - The IndoorOutdoor Medical Growers Bible as that book spares no detail when it comes to everything that has to do genetics, pollination, programming, hybrids, selfing, breeding schemes for cross pollination and other shit as well as thoroughly explaining the biology behind each at a high school level (hell yea i paid attention in grade 11 biology). amazing book. i'd post the chapter but that's probably against some copyright laws or something so just get the book.

breed away.

Its not that im against breeding but its not for the first time grower. I would try and breed too but i do not have enough room, if i am going to try and make seeds i am going to shoot for femnized seeds
