do you have to hang dry ????

question, I just harvested all my girls... Do they have to be hung t odry correctly ? In the past I have cut all the bud off and dried on screen racks. Does it make a difference ? does drying it one way produce more THC than another ?
thnks for the help :)

Happy smokin bongsmilie pass it along....

Well, I would say it depends on how much your harvesting. If you harvest close to a few pounds, hanging them all up to dry might not be as practical as laying them out to dry on screens.

If you are not harvesting a big amount, then hanging is the way to go.

Hanging the harvest has been reported to improve taste and the bud continues to suck nutrients from the stem and leaves while it drys.

As far as improving the THC I am not to sure if it's affected by how you dry it.

Hanging is probably best because it allows for better airflow around the buds, ensuring even drying and reducing the chance of mold.

THC wouldn't be affected.

You do not have to hang dry. Hanging has a couple positives that may seem minor are still worth considering but in general it is just the most convenient way to do it for a list of reasons.

Unless the temperature/humidity levels are way off it allows for a slow dry where all the non-psychoactive THV would turn psychoactive and all other chemicals that need to be broken down to make sure your harvest is the best it can be in every way have a chance to break down.

Its simplicity and flexibility makes it easy for almost anyone to be able to find a location where they can provide an adequate amount of slow but constant air circulation and at least to some degree regulate temperature and hopefully to some degree humidity also, but hanging usually makes all that easier to do plus the results are better and more even when hung.

It is a case of it has long been recognized as the overall best way to dry for most people in most situations, though at times some reasons for its use were based in inaccuracies, so it has become the standard practice.

I started by laying my trimmed buds out on plates or screen like things but I found that I had to rotate them to keep them from flattening on one side and drying more on one side than the other. I started hanging on the stems and I think it works way better and, like Brick Top said, it's much more convenient.

:weed:thank you all for the replies. I figured drying was the way to go...I dont have alot, its just for me, bout a #. Didnt know though if the buds continued to soak up THC fron the stalk or not, figures it might dry better if not on the stalk but you are right, it does flatten it and I dont like that :)

Again, thank abunch and happy toking.... today is my birthday and Im going to sit home and puff all daybongsmilie

Didnt know though if the buds continued to soak up THC fron the stalk or not,

THC is created in the trichome-heads/resin-heads so there is no THC to travel from inner-leaves or stems or branches or stalk or roots to buds.

THC only exists where it is created, in the trichome-heads/resinheads.

Allmost all weed when u start to dry it, smells like hay or pine needles.. Most of the time its caused by the still left chlorophil in the plant. Some people when they first cut the limps hung them in the garage.. or some were the has the benafit of getting COLD and WARM.. like regular day.. This will trick the newly cut stems in to thinking its just a same old day.. and Will use up the still left chlorophil in the plant.. But usly most people just cure there weed after it drys. And during this process chemical changes accure over time.. and the oils that make the sweet smell come out in the weed.. it also darkens, the airs also become more dark in color.. and if ur plant has purple green or what even color when the chlorophil is used up it will revert to that color.. Like dank ass purple weed.. but u do need that strain.
