Do you have a mammoth mint 8(880 w) or HLG scorpion Diablo x ? I am trying to decide between the two lights for a 6 x 6 area. I’ve seen grows with both lights, and am impressed, my question is,,, which has more uniform coverage, and which has better penetration for taller plants? I’ve had several recommendations on each, the mint better price and draws more wattage and everyone I’ve talked to with the scorpion Diablo X seems to love them. I’ve also seen pictures of deep penetration w Diablo lower buds were still big at about 3 feet down? My goal is to decide and have a new light on or around 4/20 sales. I’ve spent some time reading up on diodes and so on but I don’t know a lot about led. Please help me pictures welcome, diode, par, efficiency, which light should I choose?

I run two Diablo X's. I had to get another after how spectacularly my light performs. I had an entire table of plants that size because of monster cropping and her light pushed right on through. This is the second to last plant I killed.

This is one of the four mains off Sherbinski's Acai Jelly

This is one plant jarred OG Kush. Those are 1/2 gallon jars.

I'm very happy with my X

One more to show you how not monster cropped plants look LOL

That was 5 minutes ago, Cannarado, White Papaya. I love that stuff. There is something very special about their spectrum. Even my clones love it!

I'm rebuilding my grow room and so I pulled my cloning/seed tent apart and put these on the new 30 gallon veg res and turned on the Diablo at 2 ROFLMAO. My clone are 3 weeks in only KLN because I'm too busy to get to transplanting and they are happy as peach pie LOL

PS here's the roots on those clones! The foliage only tells you 1/2 the story. I really need to transplant these LOL

There are tons of great lights out there and I'm sure the Mammoth is a good light but right now because of an issue with one of my HLGs they are currently custom fitting a board for me (under warranty). I'd pay them double for those X's (btw the light that had the issue was not the X it was my 250 Veg Pro) I'll share that story when it's all done in my Annie's Update journal so I don't just take over your thread. LOL

But I can not recommend HLG enough. If I can help you with the decision or you need to see any other pics holler. I'm usually around.

That’s the deep penetration I’m talking about, I’ve talked to you in dm, you have great love for your scorpion and I almost bought one last week as they were on sale. But I wonder how anybody with the mint feels and is it as good? Great grow though, Beautifull!

I grew with HID forever and wouldn't switch to LED for flowering until I saw the X. Anyway you should get one of each and do a side by side for yourself. I dithered for a solid year about moving to two Diablo 350s or the X and that is what I'm setting up in the new 5x5 LOL So GET BOTH!!! And you do the research for us!

Sorry, can’t afford both.. I was hoping someone on here already had one and could show it off! Anyone with the mammoth mint on RIU? Par charts side by side? Diode talk? I know a lot of you know better than me! I’m sure either would be better than the lights I’m running now!

Yes??

Mammoth LED?? Emerald Green/Mint White Series?

Has the closest spectrum to the sun. I believe its about 5000k.

The SUN, is 5800k.

Mammoth uses the best diodes, and driver, money can buy, and $$$/PPF, is the best Ive seen. The PPF Efficiency, has gone down slightly, from last year, when the light wasnt quite as heavy on the Green. It was 3.1 efficiency. Now its 2.95, which is still at the top of the pile. Is also available, with UV. Was 2611ppf, now its 2537. For the 880w, which I think actually draws 860w.
Mammoth says they tried to combine the spectrums of Halide, and HPS, to determine their spectrum.
I believe heavier Red, than Mammoth uses may yield a bit more, But, the chemical profile is supposed to be better, in the more sun like spectrum. Who knows??? Though, I tend to believe the closer they can get to the real spectrum of the sun, the better. After all, everything evolved under the spectrum of the sun.

I did find it odd they wouldn't compare the Diablo X but the Tomahawk 720 & Diablo 750 they have listed (do others think it's odd too?) - both around 715 Watts and the Diablo X has 6 boards instead of 4 like the Diablo 750 but 1132 more diodes which is far more efficient than the Diablo 750 with higher PPFD.
Apparently it's just marketing noise because they are picking less efficient and lower power units to compare to.
(Looks better when you do)
The Diablo X has 2145 PPF & 3.06 umol/j and I don't see anything like that in the chart except one Gavita.

I don't doubt that is a great light too but I imagine building a light with six HLG QB648 or HLG QB548 and driving it with 800+ Watts I would expect a different outcome.
Not apples to apples either way, but the line is blurry for a reason.
More marketing...
Just like they usually avoid the distance published for PAR maps when the penetration is important for at least 24” a more realistic distance not 6" and you see a little of that.

This ought to be a good time...
Good post! Keep em coming!

I'm reading that the HLG Scorpion Diablo runs quite hot, can anyone confirm this?

I hesitate between the Mammoth 880W and the Diablo X. Not sure if de Diablo is the best choice in a grow tent with limited height and if true, way more heat than bar-style light.

I also have my eye on the Grand Master Led Tarantula Borg Evolution with a 4-channel tuneable spectrum, looks sick and same price as the Diablo's.

What's the height limitation?

If I get the mammoth for a 6xx6 can I run it at 80% for the first year or so and still expect good cover? If I buy either the scorpion x or mammoth my hope was to run at 80% to preserve light efficiency in the long run.also how is the penetration on say a 3-4 foot plant? I run SOG but plants normally top out about 3-4 ft. I normally trim back lower shoots but with a better light maybe I don’t need to trim back as much? Any pics?
