I foliar spray for genetic triggers and responses, not so much feeding the plant.
It's not a good practice for feeding the plant but a good one for getting different genetic responses from natural PGR's like yucca, kelp and amino acids found in those. Many are more effective as foliar feed for those trigger but not at feeding the plant.
They work effectively in a hydro/water culture setting where you want the positive genetic triggers but don't want to make your nutrient solution dirtier and less stable by introducing organics in the nutrient solution.
