Do you check bud trichomes or leaf trichomes

If i can sum up a load of things -

Bud needs longer, becoming more airy at the end is common for well grown bud dont stress it shouldnt foxtail but late bud does start to push out little tails.

Forget trichs, plant be done when it looks done, actual pros do not use loupes and learn to eyeball a few grows and sample the high, too much bad info about just trust your judgement.

Bud looks fine, you gona get high but needs time and post bud pics in normal light as leds are a pita to see much under.

You make or break yourself in thr dry and cure. Enjoying the show keep us posted as its really not hard and after this you be pro at the whole thing

Who ever said humidity needs to realise so much mythical wrong infos been spread on this your most likely wrong so stop mentioning it

I give it to Mikey (neighbor) He smokes anything. He tells me if he's sleepy or freaking the fux out thinking someone is after him after burning.

I adjust times based off that.

You can grab a few bud that seem rippen when you are not sure. And let the rest growing. If you smoke it right away without curing it will taste like shit and will be harsh. But if you keep it later and cure it you can compare.. You can harvest in difrent batch. When you want to compare harvest point in your grow diary... You can keep a diary for every strain and set your average. Its great when you have few plant similar strain. You harvest a few days appart. And can then chose your better batch and try again the next time with similar recepies..

Thanks Frigault, I should have clarified that you dry and cure the sample to later compare with the later harvested bud.

Then you’ll be able to recognize a little easier on the next crop when the plant is ripe according to your preference.

So, can I take a piece of a bud off or do I have to harvest an entire bud to do the tests with

Its best to take a bud from its attache point. so remove the cluster completely. And no it dosent have to be a complete section with the brache. Just a cluster growing on a stem section ca do. Just remember it will shrink a lot during drying. So if you take something the size of a quarter. It will look like a dime. I would just harvest a bud and cut it down to the next node below. And have a decent size..

Cut a small bit and leave on the side in the living room or kitchen or wherever for five days to a week, whenever its dry enough to smoke

@Kingrow1 I harvested a bud on Saturday and it was dry enough to try this morning. Much more potent compared to my first grow. It was much smoother as well. I was trimming the sample bud and found that the outside calyx were plump but further into the buds interior the calyx were less full and had quite a few white hairs. I trimmed the bud down to mini buds to allow for faster drying. The sad/frustrating part of the story is-my plant is near death I believe. There are nearly no green leaves and the buds aren’t a deep green that they used to be. They aren’t yellow but they have a less pronounced green compared to the more immature buds lower down. Long story short- I think it’s time to chop her down. I’d rather wait till this weekend if possible. I don’t have any pictures to post right now but tonight I will post some. It kinda seems like the buds are drying on the plant. Again, I will post proper pictures when I get home. Thank you all as always.

Looks overdone to me. I woulda harvested that a few days ago.

That’s what I’m thinking. I’d rather be a little late than early. My first grow harvested too early. Hopefully I get a few more opinions in the next day before I harvest. Thanks for replying.

Yeah, some people might disagree with me. I don't like my flowers or fruits overly ripe in general.

I definitely don’t like overly ripe fruit. I’ve never tried overly ripe bud yet. I know I didn’t care at all for my premature harvest. I will be shocked if anyone disagrees with your opinion. I barely have any leafs left.

I would just harvest it if you liked what you've smoke. You will always have white haire inside de bud till it dies. You dont judge its ripeness on the white haire remaining inside. But on overall that has died and on the matured trichomes on the bud not sugar leaf. Overipen happens when trichome starts to all turn amber and are colapsing on its self. This looks done. The lost of green and leaf indicator that its rippeness. The turn from green to light brownish is over rippen. This means its dying and putting energie in seed maturity. Since there isent any seeds its will slowly turn to brown and die. Don't get us wrong. Is a good harvest. Buds looks nice could have been harvested before. The reason it taste sweet without curing is do to complete nutrient depletion which is what you have now. So i would harvest now. Slow dry it. Then cure it slowly. Separate small bottom bud from big bud ans smoke the small bjd during curing and keep big buds curing fir like a month. In a tight jar you open once a day and mix to let moisture and fresh air exange then open once a week after a week. Then if you liked what you've smoke. You mire then lijely like what you'll be smoking.. Curing is has important has growing. A goid crop with a bad drying and curing can take like shit.. Slow dry in darness (cool temparature) and a good curing. Smoke the small bud in the meantime.

That what i tell my girlfriend to smoke (the smalest bud from the buttom. Then she's a little dusapointed. And then when she gets to the cured she changes her mind comoketely and brag about the comments she gets from her friends
