So we talked as a family and decided to get rid of a bunch of the kids toys. Stuff they have grown out of and some stuff they still wanted. We came up with the idea of donating them to some families in our area that are struggling this year. So we placed an ad on a popular buy/sell website which will remain nameless but rhymes with bijiji LOL...Anyway in no time at all we had several replies with the same story of how they just couldn't afford to buy Christmas presents this year. So we took the first replies and were able to split all of what we had between 2 families that needed it. Then I got to reading some of the other ads for people selling stuff and I was just floored. There are people out there trying to get 5 and 10 bux for there old used toys like 3 days before Christmas....the ads appear on the same page as the people asking for help. that isn't even the worst of it....There are several ads for these Furr Real Dogs that are this years must have toy for all the little sheeple....Get this they are trying to double the amount of money they paid for the stupid thing.....Again ads appear on the same page as these needy families beggin for help.

Just wanted to rant about this:twisted:

It's a seasonal tradition dating back to cabbage patch dolls. I don't remember the line ups for them (I was a kid still).. but I remember that damn tickle me elmo doll.. what a stupid fucking toy, and people were auctioning it off on ebay for hundreds more than they paid for it. I myself got rooked by a retail store the year the PS2 went on sale... I got it, an extra controller, 1 game, memory card,DVD remote, and something else for $800 at the store! (retail was $499 BTW-but he only sold them "in bundles" which made you buy more than you wanted-I had no use for an $80 remote control when the controller worked to access the dvd menu).people were selling them (just the console) in the paper for over a grand. Not everyone has the "spirit of giving" and the whole idea of "pay it forward" is lost on some people. Good karma on giving away your used toys... some people won't give away their garbage for free if they think someone else would pay a nickle for it.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

The sad thing is that the toys you donated to these people are now probably up for sale on the same website. I've had that happen giving things away on Craigslist.
