do i really need to flush??

i have been using Foxfarm Tiger bloom....is it really necessary to flush for 2 weeks or at all??

yes, otherwise your herb will taste like chemicals and nutes when it dries and u burn it.

thanks for the replies! is tigerbloom as 'chemical-y' tasting as some other nutes cause my test buds smoked great!

Good call - flush for sure, its smokeable w/o one though.

That all depends on your feed level. Are you using jus tthe bloom or mixing with Grow Big? If you have been pushing them hard (over 1200PPM @.5) then yes, flush. If you have not been pushing them that hard then flush is not necessary. Most "chem" taste is from Nitrogen in the ferts and as long as the level is fairly low there is no bad taste.

tastes like wet fertilized grass if you dont flush, why wouldnt you?

I like to smoke wet grass...if you painted you car would'nt you let the paint dry befor driving it....so flush your plants

paint your car let it dry before driveing

water your plants hang to dry before smokeing

how does flushing fit in?

I kind of have something similar.. I was using Tiger Bloom and Grow Big.. Plants were only three weeks flowering.. Circumstances caused me to have to get rid of them.. so rather than just throw them all away i figured i would at least keep some nuggies and try to find a way to use them. Could i just make hash with it all? would it be as chemically then? Are the nutes really bad to smoke anyways?

"flushing is just better" - I disagree. Flush if you want to - but as long as you are not heavy on N in your fert and are not pushing them to hard with high PPM then there is no need. In fact, if you do it right, you can run 3 full flowering cycles without changing the res, let alone dumping perfectly good nutes down the drain and flushing.

Actually aside from taste flushing is also about making it burn consitantly and stay lit like cigarette tobacco. If you don't flush it won't burn as well, even dried to the right level you often find it won't stay lit at all whereas properly flushed pot would burn consistantly and let you roll j's that don't keep going out. It does make a difference.

i grew up on a farm, and have a question for anyone who's ever bought produce, or known someone who's grown it.....

did the farmers flush the tomatoes? did they taste like nitrogen?

the chemicals are metabolized, and changed to plant matter. why rob the plant of fertilizer during the two weeks that it's gaining the most weight? my hydro unflushed beats the crap out of competitors dirt stuf, grown organically with a flush. o.0

use good nutes and not too much, and there is no need to flush.

Organic = No Flush needed
Chemical = Flush out the chelated stuff, and since probably N if you overdid it.

As far as ash color and burning. All the home grown shit always burns better than the brick weed. =D

i dont agree with this at all. black ash comes from a buildup of nutes, which can happen regardless of medium.

and the topic of flush vs. no flush will be debated till the end of time. i flush, i suggest you try it both ways and decide what you like the most.
