Do I need an exhaust fan?

I'm wondering because the 6" carbon filter I was going to attach my exhaust fan and duct to, already has 650 CFM by itself. Can I just attach duct to it?

Yes you can. Set up the fan to suck through the carbon filter, aircooled hood (if you have one) then out the tent or room. Negative pressure will keep the smell from going anywhere but through the filter....

Thinking that may be the one from Amazon and if it is the 650CFM is actually not the amount of air it pushes but the amount of air it is rated to have sucked through it. Most carbon filters, actually I have never seen a single one come with a fan so you may want to double check that.

Ya I just re-read the question and assumed that you had both the fan and the filter. Pravius is right you need both.. although HTGSupply has a package deal and so does CAN. I don't know your set up but a 6" cent. fan will cool a 1000 in a 4x4 box or tent so I wouldn't go any smaller than that.
