You have shown an open mind, did you read my link -

https://www.rollitup.org/t/breaking-the-dry-and-cure-down-for-the-new-dude-on-the-block.986529/

I hang my trimmed bud for two weeks in a room i use say living room or dining room. It hangs free no cupboard tent or enclosure, no fan or humidity control. The room gets fresh air and that is enough to take away the moisture from the bud away and thus it dries.

After a werk.it smokes in a joint but after two it taste much better and is the finished product - fuck jars and humidity if you oardon my french its done ready to get sold or smoked.

Thats game over right there but ill explain the cure exactly for you. Your bud is dry smokable finualshed product, if you put it in a jar it will stay that way - check the day after and once afain the day after that that its stayed dry and the same. Bingo your done just leave the jar a few months then observe how the bacteria and enzymes that like dried buds low moisture content have slowly but futher broken down some of the remaining compounds.

You read a load of stuff but few explain the real facts and way growers have done it since man first found marijuana gets you high. Dismiss all else and practice this the next couple of grows. If you want to know what jar humidity oland overdried etc etc just read my.link for the science you require :-)
I stumbled across doing it this way cause people have always said to do it the other way... I do the opposite of what is said to be the only way to do something,if that makes sense...

I took it down at 51 % ( been consistent for 2 days , hung for 8 , I fine tuned it , and jarred last light . This morning R.H. was 51 % .
Too low ? little low ? or sweet spot ? thanks for your input .

so I took my slurricane down 8 days , trimmed up , and put in jars , about 3 hours ago , R.H. is 51 , time for a humidity pack ?
Humidity packs and boveda are snake oil, after 8 days bud is not ready to be jarred and certain processes havent finished.

Jar when it is dry enough to smoke and the full flavour has come through - this will be after two weeks of hang dry time. After a week it will be dry enough to smoke but notice after two the full flavour and dankness come through.

Ignor the cure and jarring and focus solely on drying as i explained - then jar it. Humidity is irrelevant we just want aie exchange for it to dry. Ince dry it is about 12% moisture and will not release anymore so no need to line the pockets of boveda if you never have to and simply jar and leave.

Swriously though my way is the pro way and the other way is pretty much bs - why you got mold in the first place listening to idiots that dont know qnything :-)

Rh is irrelevant, made an issue by idiors that strangled this weed with bs.

You ask me what moisturevis left in my bud when dry and the answer is between 10-15%.

Bud is 90% moisture 10% solid matter. We dry down to 10 - 15% moisture content. Add the 10% solid matter and bingo dried bud is one quater the weight of wet bud.

No humidity readings mean anything - start focusing on bud moisture content not whats in the air.

How the funk we know we have hit 10-15% bud moisture and dry - thats super easy, it smokes in a joint, grinds in a grinder or burns in a bong.

You cannot overdry bud by hanging naturally but shitter grown bud releases more moisture and falls at 5% moisture which sees it crisp and crumbly. Peeps think you need to jar or bud overdries - bullshit well grown bud equalizes at 10-15% and stays there.

I hope your getting the idea and practical science to this :-)

I'm starting to wrap my hands around it . Makes sense , the shit we got 40 yrs. ago was dry , red bud, gold , maui , Thai stick , Mexican shit , , it wasn't as crystalized tho back then as it is now . ( and all the seeds to boot ! ) Lol , With all this high THC stuff coming out , just not use to drying it to that extent . Seems that the Trichs and hairs start to fall off the bud easier .

Hey i noticed sometimes mold builds on/in a bud, that is in a wind shadow from the lamp/vent.
Another thing you could wet trim and dry at like 55-65f and 65% ish rh, with a little bit of air exchange. That way you can hang the whole budbranches for like 1-3 weeks and they will never lose the smell and dont mold. After that just jar it up.

If trichs and hairs didnt fall of easy dry seiveing and such would be a real.pita.

Shit bud always overdries, accept it and get better, you still cant dry till its hung for a couple weeks or it simply releases moisture in the jar and molds or tastes even worse. We need to make sure weed has fully dried and equalized with out local enviroment or it simply releases moisture into the jar and mold taste crap again... you get the point :-)

Good bud well dried simply compresses, how many times have you or all us bought some primo weed, driven home only to fimd that you sat on it the whole way home... It dont turn to dust or grinds up but it does compress into a flat ass bud only a fraction of the size you paid for.

You cant over dry well grown bud by drying naturally, if you live in a hot country your bud naturally will be a few percent drier than a cooler country and a humid country possibly moister idk but there is a global variation in the precise dryness but all of it it equalized and burns when lit.

This is simply the organic matter, trich cells probably dry and harden a little (guess) and the oils do what they do as well as slowly loose a touch of moisture (not down with the science there really). All stuff needs to hit low moisture levels or some unwanted bacteria and fungi will vector in on it, same with food and stuff, drying means low enough moisture that nothing bad can use to make colonies of bad stuff.

Trial and error but should be as simple for all, ive done it years now im pretty lazy and still it works all the time. Ive left buds in a cupboard and forgot and got mold pretty quick but never by leaving them in an open room :-)

Truth..I had a timer malfunction and didn’t catch it in time and had 4 monster plants start to re-veg and throw funny looking growths on the buds.. After fixing my issue, I continued to finish them off to be used as donation product.. chopped them about 4 months ago now and still have a plant and a half left (10-14 oz) that is STILL hanging in my guest house closet, and I just havnt had the time to finish clipping and prepping for donation...no humidity control, and I live in NC where the RH, and to an extent, temperatures, can be all over the place...

Anyhow, point is, I cut a few ounces off about a week ago to donate to a buddy’s uncle, and it still has a solid and very strong smell, even more so when packaged, even briefly, then opened. But yeah, right now, the RH in that closet is about 40%, has been lower, and has been higher, but regardless, the whole plant hanging like that seems to keep the terpenes intact for extended periods of time.

Best of luck!! Be safe and be happy
