Do I have enough lights?

I will be growing ten autoflowering plants in approximately 8 square feet, in a closet. The dimensions are around 2x4 feet. I'll be using two gallon pots; I'm hoping that fitting an extra plant or two in there will be worth the stunted growth from smaller pots. I'm giving it a try this way because they're autoflowering (Dinafem OG Kush Auto) seeds so the plant should stay smaller anyways.

I'm wondering: Is it okay to use two 250-watt CFL's in there with 6400 Kelvin bulbs for veg, then replace the bulbs with 2700 Kelvins for flowering? Is that enough light for the size of the space and number of plants?

I know it not quite the same, I have a cab that is 2x4 and run 432 watts of t5 and it does good. I would think your 500 of cfl should do it.

I'm glad to hear it! Thanks for the reply man, it's nice to hear I seem to at least be doing that correctly.

A quick follow up question, is it okay to use 80% peat moss and 20% perlite? With no vermiculite? I'll be using liquid nutrients of my own, and I hope the perlite will keep the peat's PH from going crazy.

I wouldn't run that much peat. I ran it heavy outdoors and even with 90 degree heat they can go a week or better without water. Peat retains water.

Thank you. I started with generic organic humus and topsoil. About 2-3 bags each. 15 pound of worm castings. Alfalfa pellets. And compost. A little lime and few pounds of crushed oyster shell.

That setup is around 40k lumens, I have about 20k using 14 23w bulbs and its doing 2 plants well so yours should do at least double that for sure! Sounds like it will be good! Have you already purchased though? And what will the cost be? I only ask because i feel i've wasted my money going with the cfl thinking HID was going to be more expensive (even though they are working great for what they are!) and i am going to finish flowering with an hps setup. If you are paying over $100 for your CFLs like me, i'd say maybe consider a 400w dimmable switchable system as there is a great deal for only $150.00 and the results blow cfl away! I'll be purchasing this in 2 weeks, heres the link if youd like to take a look! >>>>Apollo 400w switchable HID<<<<

Thanks for the reply man! I'm glad my lights should be fairly close to what I need - They'll be around $140 together (for both lights), which is around the same price for the link you sent me - I'll be looking into those for sure man, that link actually looks really promising!

No problem brotha! I think they will do you good if you end up going go that route, the cfl will be at least what you need, they do better than the wrap their given 100% ! The HID will give you what you want though no doubt! Itll probably run hotter though. Ill let you know how it does in my 2x6 if i get it before you get lights! I figured, the big ones are a bit overpriced imo less efficient too, 184w of 23w cfls cost me about $24 now! (got before i looked enough and spent $40 for the same lol) I'd definitely check it out. best deal ive found going and tons of great reviews on that system, for that price i mean damn! Quite a few people pull 5-8 zips off a 400w!

Just saying got that light, came shipped in perfect condition reflector was only a little bent, i got the 600w one and it looks amazing! Testing it at lights on.
