do fox farm nutes have an expiration date?

I ordered from ebay and my big bloom says 7/21/10 printed on the top of the bottle. What the hell does that mean? I don't want to open it if I got to return it or feed it to my plants. Fertilizer can't go bad can it?

they can go bad as nutrients can have fallout where certain elements fall out or become isolated from the mix

I believe the big bloom is a tea and has living organisms in it. It will have a shorter shelf life than the grow big and tiger bloom. Fox farm says their products can last for years if stored correctly. I restock every grow with the big bloom but as long as I don't hear chunks rattling around when I shake the grow big and tiger bloom I continue to use.

not sure what the printed date mean. when i go to my house later today where my garden is i'll look and see what mine says. im also curious of this myself and just did a bunch of googling and read. i think you're safe though. the bottles are opaque so sunlight can't damage them. im sure your bottles came sealed airtight so i dont see how it could oxidize. as long as they were stored properly, you should be fine. i'll respond later today with my bottles' dates. also agreed, probably is a production date.

i just called fox farm customer service. their liquid fertilizers do in fact expire. the lady told me about 3-4 years maybe a little longer. she also said when they're expired, they will have a strong phosphoric smell to them. see for yourself if you would like 1-800-436-9327 they didnt answer the first time so i called back an hour later. they didnt even put me on hold, customer service was instant.

i checked my bottles and none of them have a date anywhere. i never noticed any chunks in my bottles. my big bloom always has these little particles but i think thats normal. has yours been stored in the cold at all? if so maybe it caused some of it to solidify. you could let it sit in some hot water for a while then shake it up real good and see if it still has chunks. your bottle is probably good and personally i would still risk it. im not 100% sure though. if you want more info i would just call fox farm 1-800-436-9327 if they dont answer just call back every half hour or so.

Thanks for calling, was worried myself, I've had my trio pack for over a year now. Now am going to call them about the soil, I've had a bag sitting for more then 6 months or so, hopefully I can still use it.

just curious, what did they say about your soil? i would think it's safe. i would just look through it good and make sure no bugs made any new homes. just my thoughts, cant really say for sure. would like to know what the experts at the company say. sorry, don't mean to jack this thread.
