Do any strains actually produce crap buds?

I've done 3 grows. All of them were clones given to me by friends.

I've probably grown at least 7 different strains (having no idea what they were).

Every single plant i've grown has turned out to be as beautiful as the attached picture (which was my second grow - but of equal quality as all of them).

It leads me to beleive that strain isn't as important as i first thought. You know how sometimes you buy some pot and its just really shit? Fuck all trichomes and smells like compost. After having grown with great success over the years... i want to know, what the hell are they doing to their plants to produce such shit weed? It surely can't be strain, because i bet if i got a clone i could produce similar quality to the pic.

Hate to disagree, but I would like to point out that while the environment HUGELY influences the success of a grow, genetics are EVERYTHING.

Literally THE deciding factors about what phenotypes will emerge are predetermined by genetics...

You can grow a decent bagseed plant, but it will ALMOST never compare to a high quality (genetically) strain.

Just for an example, the ability to produce THC - is outlined - by genetics. Sativa, Indica, Ruderalis? Genetics...

That said, I'm glad you have had such success.

Yeah id say your right. Maybe ive just been lucky... Ive only grown from seed once before but it never made it to flower because we got robbed :/

Next time i get crap stuff which is seeded ill give it a go. I always wonder how they went so wrong when i get that stuff.

Well have u dried it properly? Mabe cured it? When you get a chip of a brick the ppl that grew it don't give a shit how it turns out. It's just a brick of money to them. No love. No passion. But all that's a mabe and I don't know what I'm talking about.

seeded pot is weaker than non-seeded pot. The energy is diverted from tricome production and put into seed production. So there is one reason. Another would be ignoring the plants. Let's say a mexican mob want to plant 20 fields so that 4 fields would make it to maturity w/o getting destroyed by the cops. (just wild guesses as to the number of fields cops find) The mexicans probably aren't feeding all 20 fields the proper nutrients so that hey max out their potential. Those two factors combined will signifigantly reduce quality. A third factor might be that since they have to plant so many fields with literally hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of plants that they will not be able to take care of...the mexicans #1 concern might not be elite genetics...but rather ease of getting tons of seeds for an economical price. They might go for a quick auto-flower strain that was crossed with a hardy plant like northern lights. Low end auto-flower strains aren't as potent as high end elite genetics.
