Updates! First off, I must have great luck, because I was hired at a new, better paying, much easier job within 23 hours of getting fired from my old, shitty one.

NEW SEEDS

I got all my beans (as well as my new favorite coffee mug) and I've started germing a few.

20110225122907.jpg20110226140402.jpg20110226124733.jpg

I figured I have plenty of WW x BB and that's what I'm most excited about, but I'm still gonna germ all my freebies and a couple of my colored seeds. Here's the new roster of kids being germed.

Female Seeds White Widow x Big Bud
Delicious Seeds Sugar Black Rose and Northern Light Blue
Green House Lemon Skunk and White Rhino

I figured if I'm gonna try a 12/12 from seed grow I might as well try it with indicas.

Goo & Mango - Day 3 - Flower

The Mango is getting some better looking tops (I realized I kind of screwed up last time I topped and just gave another snip) so I'm sure we'll get something nice in a few days. Side growth has calmed down a bit, but we're hoping that changes soon.

20110227023133.jpg20110227023042.jpg20110227023034.jpg

The Goo is another story. It's recovered fully from it's original snip and is now beginning to push out 4 colas. The first set of leaves looks a little retarded, but it's growing so quickly I can't complain. Lots and lots of side growth is starting as well.
20110227023543.jpg20110227023200.jpg20110227023239.jpg20110227023302.jpg

I'm seeing preflowers, but no nanners to report so far, so keep them fingers crossed extra tight for me.

I'm gonna see if I can try my hand at a ghetto scrog setup (pretty much just a twine grid supported by the tent's frame). I've been checking out how it's done and it looks fun. More on that as it develops. For now, I will say that I may not take any clones out of this group, but it's because I want to build a bubble cloner first and I need time to save for that.

Thanks guys! Comment away!

Nice, I'm a big fan of CFL. The Skunk #1 grow in my sig is all CFL and I pulled over 1oz dry from a single plant. I noticed the burns in the video. Hope you got that under control. You don't scorch the buds until after you chop it down :bigjoint:

They're looking good for so young. I'll be putting some pics up tomorrow. Most of my new seeds germed, but two of them are being stubborn as hell. The Goo is growing nice and quickly now, so I decided to move it into a much bigger pot. More to come soon.

Good to here mate, when you say germed, how long was the tap root before you planted? i used to germ them big like and inch but this lot i planted as soon as i seen the tip come out maybe an 1/8 of an inch maybe smaller say 5/64, im converting from mm for you'
...... so maybe thats why mine are taking a little longer im not too sure, but yeah good luck on the stubbon one!

I found with this method I have had 100%germ rate so far.

Things you need
1. Starter Tray with Dome with vents
2. Heating matt walmart brand will do
3. Root Riot cubes nothing to do with Matt Riot
4.Timer with 6 on/off settings so it can be on 12+ hours around 76-80 dagrees is best
5.Bath towel
Star by picking a place I do mine in my living room under my end table.
When you have found your spot. Place the the heating matt down then your bottom grow tray on the matt .Put your gear into the insert grow tray(Don't forget to label you seeds). Drop the insert with gear into the bottom tray water each cube lightly. Place dome on tray with vents open just a HAIR you want it to be humid in the dome and be able to see condensation on the dome it self. Put the towel over the dome to cut down on light.
With this method I have had seeds germ in 8 hours the seed was white label master kush

New pics droppin in a few hours. The Sugar Black Rose has sprouted, the Big Widow is above the soil, but the shell is still attached and the rest of the seeds have been planted. On a sadder note, I'm giving the Northern Light Blue and Lemon Skunk 24 hours to push their taproots out to an acceptable length or they're going into the graveyard.

I was looking forward to the rose and big widow the most, so I'm glad they're on board for the ride. If they're good enough I'll take a clone and reveg the rose. I found a store in my town that sells hydro gear AND beer making supplies. It's hands down my new favorite store. I no longer need to mail order ANYTHING. This dude has what you need either in the store or in a catalogue. He'll order whatever I want, no shipping charge. I spoiled myself with a big ass bag of ocean forest and some ph control supplies. The water they've been getting was at 8.5! They're down to a healthy 6.0 now, so no worries.

UPDATES/NEW PICS!!

First and foremost, let's focus on the Goo and Mango plants that have been in flower for 6 days now.

The Mango is looking excellent. 4 main colas have started where I topped them and they're looking very healthy. No signs of gender yet, but I'm holding out hope that this one will be female.

20110303145450.jpg20110303145505.jpg

As you can see, she's got some decent node spacing but is still sativa stretchy.

The Mango isn't growing upward as quickly, but it's looking much bushier than the Goo, so hopefully this is a sign of dense buds to come.

20110303013226.jpg

As for the seedlings, the Sugar Black Rose has sprouted and is showing it's first true leaves. The Big Widow has sprouted, but one of it's cotyledons appears to be damaged. The Kannabia special is out of the ground, but the cotyledons have not spread yet, so it'll probably be a legit seedling by lights out. No progress yet on the White Rhino, but I'm confident it'll be showing up within the next day or two.

20110303012907.jpg

The Lemon Skunk and NL Blue have both taken far too long to show any germination progress (The shell cracked about 5 days ago and the root hasn't moved outward since) and as such have been disposed of. It's a tough choice, but survival of the fittest is how my tent works.

Will this damaged cotyledon screw up my Big Widow or will she still develop normally? +rep for answers on that one.

As usual, post your commentary/tips any time.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. New pics and lots of info tonight, but I sadly had to chop down the Goo for being a hermie. All is well, I've added a new seed to the bunch and I have lots more coming up. Stay tuned.

Alright, there's a lot to update, so here we go.

RIP - Goo

The Goo was showing pistils and nanners and had to die. Since I stopped off at the hydro shop for some rockwool, I decided to try and clone it. Some say you can get feminized seeds with hermie pollen, so I figured I should try it out.

I didn't have the cash for a humidity dome and a T5 fixture, so I decided to try and flex my ghetto grow muscle bit. I present...

Tha Most Ghetto Clone Box Evar

The plan was to spend as little money as possible on my clone box. I added up the cost, but most of the items you'll need are probably already laying around your house anyway. Here's what I used:

Rockwool plugs - 98 count - $11.25

20110310001138.jpg20110310001150.jpg

Rooting hormone - about $7 (assuming you don't buy the insanely overpriced stuff to shave off a few days)
Plastic cups (not clear) - $1
Ziploc bags - about $1-$3
Water - $0.00-$0.89/gallon
Shop light w/clip - about $8
Y-adapter (optional) - $2
CFL bulb x2 - $5
Empty cupboard - $Free

First thing I do is snip the clone as usual. Stick it in the plug and mist the bitch down the her leaf-titties is all wet and shiny n' shit.

20110310000641.jpg

Aight, then I drop her in the cup so the leaves get light, but the roots aren't getting any direct light.

20110310000654.jpg

Then just mist a bag down and put it over the cup. That's it.

20110310000711.jpg20110310000752.jpg

What do I use for a box? An empty cupboard will work just fine. Clamp a shop light on and you're done.

20110310000827.jpg

From there all I'm gonna do is mist the bag 2-3 times a day until I see roots. Ta-da. Simple enough, and will cost about $35 if you have to buy everything brand new.

On to the plants...

Mango - Day 13 - 12/12

Still no clear signs of gender. I'm feeding Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom in conjunction with FF's feeding schedule. She seems to respond well enough, so yay. I started LST after she recovered from topping and appears to be working on 5 colas so far. Hopefully the LST will allow for better light penetration and airflow, since I don't have the luxury of placing CFLs wherever I want. Not to mention a less-than-spectacular vent system (2 fans, 1 in and 1 out). She's grown pretty big since we last saw her. Here's a side-by-side comparison of her as she was 7 days ago and as she was right before dark a few hours ago.

20110303013226.jpg20110309235320.jpg

Looking very nice at the moment. I keep thinking I see nanners, but they always turn out to be new leaves in a day or two.

Seedlings!

I found a seed in a bag of some CO stuff called Malachi. It was pretty dank, so I decided to have some fun with my new rock wool and germ it. I dropped it into the cube 2 days ago and it's about to pop out for the first time.

20110310000809.jpg

Here are the new girls in order of age:

White Rhino - 3 days
Kannabia Special - 5 days
White Widow x Big Bud - 6 days
Sugar Black Rose - 7 days

20110309235443.jpg20110309235407.jpg20110309235428.jpg20110309235501.jpg

I'm very pleased with the SBR, it germed faster than the BB x WW and has been growing much more vigorously. If it turns out well I may have to order something from Delicious when the time comes next. To be fair, one of the cotyledons on the BBWW broke off the day it popped out, which may be stunting it at the moment. I was told the cotyledons provide them with nutrition for the first week or so, so we'll cut it some slack.

Special is showing the same speed as SBR and that makes me a happy guy. The White Rhino is still pretty young, but it appears to already be pushing it's second leaves out. All in all, they should all give me a nice amount of bud at this rate. And a good variety.

I ran out of the soil I used to buy before I found a hydro shop that carries Ocean Forest, so the KS and WR have both been planted in Ocean Forest, which I could tell was much higher quality the moment the bag opened. Some say it's too strong for seedlings, but these two seem to be loving it.

Things are starting to speed up. Thanks for dropping in:leaf:
