I picked up a few clones of this myself last year, mothered them and have recently decided to flower a few cuttings. Amazing how quickly the transition into flower is and how densly she fills up. I have the blue pheno so the colors are just now starting to come in. She starts week 5 when the sun rises!! What are you feeding her? I grow mainly organically and supplement with some salt based fertilizers depending upon strain. Have always been told that she prefers a lite feeding, however, our results show differently. Would love to know more about how others have grown her...
I find her to be heavy feeder..once she hits flower. I'm pretty much as organic as you can get...right down to a "subcool" based supersoil, and even lst'ing. Under my set up, I've found that a little Nitrogen starved, well, maybe managed is a better word, produces best for me. Nothing but water for final 3 weeks. I also finish under UVB, which seems to help "sugar" production.
But I didn't find the
taste I was looking for till I cut back on nitrogen (easy to "boost" if it starts to "color" too early. But I found the taste becomes absolutely lovely with a low nitrogen diet....Yields don't suffer too bad either. Although this strain isn't know for it's yield.
A better term might be a "finicky" eater, I usually mix my "supersoil" without any blood meal provided nitrogen. I do use a couple different guano's and they pick up some N from one of them. I find multiple guano's help the "flowery" aspects of the strain.
Other than that, she grows healthy and surprisingly fast, and her finish time is amazing , especially considering the sativa overtones of the final product.
If your not tired of reading, I flower 4 plants under 600 watt HPS. More "bondage" than lst, works best for me. I "roughly" lst her in veg (last stages) sometimes break a growing shoot more than I'd have liked. Once they get into flower they get "woody" and I tie then down best I can to manage canopy shape, and let them bud out.
I do "brush off" quite a few fan leaves, but only when they are just about used up.. I find the "sugar leaves" are driving the plant late in life. So I open up the buds to as much light as possible. If there is one thing I've noticed about this strain, she is a real sun worshiper..and can handle alot of water in flower. Like I said earlier, when she hits her stride, shes a hungry girl. But she likes to be a light feeder in her teens in my experience.
Another interesting characteristic of the strain I've noticed is that bud growth seems to stall about the 3rd week in flower. 3rd to 4th week she likes to put her energy towards growing her "sugar" leaves, and actual bud growth slows. Once the sugar leaves are in, she starts depleting stored energy from the fan leaves and the sugar leaves seem to take over photosynthesis. Once that occurs, bud weight and density take off. Yield seems best as a multi branched plant with a controlled canopy. She gets leggy if allowed to grow naturally, and lower tier bud development suffers. With a controlled canopy, the finished plants have a "broccoli" look to them.
What do you have luck with? I love the strain and welcome your thoughts on improving my grows...
