DIY with Quantum Boards

i'm currently using a 100k pwm with a 10k resistor for dimming the cob array. any concerns about using a pwm for dimming like i'm using with the COBs or should i consider a different pwm/resistor capacity?
Hey, boards are arriving today, any chance someone can help me figure out the pwm and resistor required capacity for the boards?
Thanks!

First, thank you everyone for all your posts. What I've put together only happened because of what I've learned from all of you - So, thank you all.

I wanted to share my latest upgrade. I've come a long way from using a small MH light in a Home Depot cabinet back in the day. Just upgraded from a 4x4 to a 4x8. I was using 12 Cree CXB3590 COBs @ 3500K already. Just added 6 QB288s @ 2700K.

Still have to clean up the cords, but just had to light it up and check it out. So exciting.....

2 High Efficiency QB-288 or QB-304 Quantum Boards.

Equivalent to a 500 Watt HPS, two of these will replace a 1000 Watt Gavita single ended grow light. Three of these kits equal a double ended 1000 Watt Gavita!

I just came across this link in a thread on here. Is the above statement true? Are they your words? I never saw that statement when I bought mine.
I know a hlg550 replaces a SE 1000w, I assumed it was more efficient than the kits, due to price difference.

Anyway, just curious. I know mine give a deeper "penetration" or depth of canopy than my old 600hps did. But wasn't aware they could match 1000w SEs :bigjoint:

If your asking me if I think the claim on leds that say equal to 1000watt hps.that's bullshit.although how with better cobs and driving them a little higher wattage the par readings vs heat/electricity bills.and what I've seen personally, some strains kill it with leds.they'll grow all strains just like fluorescent but not always for all situations.but I love led.keep trying different things and read and learn as much as poss.no replacement for experience.keep on growin.

Seen em all.like I said I web and read like a fool.you do hydro let me ask you is it true you have to grow all the same strain at 1 time?I was thinking hydro.the flood method I think it's called.any help appreciated.keep on growin bro
Right now I have 24 plants in flower out of that 15 are different strains I don't do true hydro (some consider coir as hydro -I don't) the good thing about growing perpetual is that if a plant needs more time I can always just leave it and not worry about clearing the space for my next crop. Even if you grow all the same strain you can have many different phenotypes that require different conditions, I try to keep it simple and go with what has worked for me in the past. It may not be the highest yield or potency but I am happy with it. About a year ago I decided I couldn't match Heath Robinson or Growmaus but I could still be a very good grower by figuring out what works the best for me and my space.

Yes, they're my words and the statement is true, (2x) 260 watt kits are equal to a SE1000 and three 260 watt kits are equal to a DE1000.
Happy Growing!

That's all that matters is you get what you want/need.I've been reading and talking to people about everything.I just love the strong roots/plants I see in hydro.I get a different answer from everyone.I'm gonna just have to decide weather I want to go hydro and just do it.no replacement for experience.keep on growin bro.good job

Cheers for the reply Kurt
You know we could have a whole website on led grow technology and do comparison..I would be hesitant to put a blanket statement on leds..love and use them but I wouldn't want people who look at a few threads and not see a warning as to-... all leds are not made the same....but I do agree in alot of situations led way outperforms/fit$/and makes money sense over time..love the sun but can't get any for my rooms.lol...LEARN EVERY DAY...keep on growin..peace riu fam..and get some dam #dcseedco beans.great people and equipment..I'm pretty sure ship worldwide but I'll make sure..anyone know definitely chime in..but you'll get great genetics from multiple seed dreeders..and freebies..woohoo..that's #dcseedco. Look at #massmedstrains

More then equal hps bulb degredation is rapid from its first strike to 60 % its original intensity in the first year hence most growers swap them every 6 months some every other grow

Hey bro not an argument here I'm just wanting info.how do you measure your claims.par or what?what type of meter do you use?just interested as you know leds are made the same.thanks.do you have a link to your lights or parts list?

When do you want the reading the first time the bulb in the gavita is lit or a year later i bet the reading on a quantum board is identical after a year from its first time being energized, im not arguing either hps grow the dank but in this forum i can speak for myself as an electrician im done changing bulbs and ballasts and paying for wasted IR and heat energy
