DIY System Advice Help

hey guys, I was planning on purchasing the monster ebb and flo to grow six plants, but after looking into it some more I am thinking about just building a DWC system myself. I don't want to buy a whole separate unit for my vegetation phase which is why I am thinking about not purchasing the monster ebb and flo since the 5 gal buckets are too large for veg.

I am growing from clones (just a side note)

I'm thinking about buying two separate reservoirs and doing three plants in each reservoir under a 1000 watt mh/hps. three 8 inch net pots cut into the top of each reservoir, hydroton growing medium, 10 gal elctrical air pump (is this big enough for a 10 gal reservoir?), airline tubing, and 1 airstone for each reservoir (which size does it matter?)

Does this sound like a good set up?
Is there anything that I am missing? (I have a ventilation set up in mind already)
Are there any advantages to DWC over ebb & flo from your personal experience?
How many times do you water the roots (turn on the air pump a day)?
Will the roots just sit in the solution after they reach a certain size?
Can I set up a timer for my air pump or do I have to do it manually every time?

the drip system looks nice and to the point. I was reading on some other forums that top feeding isn't really necessary in the sense that the rockwool should dry out so that the roots can expand and search in other places. Other people said their roots stopped growing when they let the rockwool dry out lol

I know there is a bunch of different methods but from your experience can you weigh in on this debate?
do I have to top feed my plants or can I just run the airstone in the reservoir?

Also Ive sorta changed my mind again lol
Im now visualizing eight different 3.5 gal buckets all with an airstone in the bottom of each, all hooked up to a commercial air pump under a 1000 watt hps

Can I see good yields in this setup with good ventilation, temp, etc?
