DIY strip build need help thanks

Ok so I have Samsung strips I have 4-80 watt strips running off a hlg240h-c1050b and then I have 3 running off the same drive n same strips i have them ran in series and the drivers are getting hot what can I do to fix this I had one strip go bad that's why the one driver only has 3 strips I'm not good at this kinda shit lol these pics are the strips I have thanks for any help

You got any pics of your actual set up? Drivers get hot. That's normal how hot are they getting is it burning something?? Do you have a temp gun?

Edit : reread it better what I understand from your first post. You have 4 strips running on one 240H
And then 3 strips running on a seperate 240H?


@ 4 strips you'll only be using 200W
The driver running 3 strips will be using 150W only

If you want the drivers to run a little cooler you could mount it to a Sheet of aluminum to dissipate some heat.

running without the extra strip in this case doesn't really hurt much since it's a constant current driver set up in series. The strips will take their required forward voltage (45-48V) at the fixed current of 1050ma

They were pretty hot what happens if I run them parallel I figured maybe they weren't sup to be ran in series least that's what the guy who sold me them said

If you run them in parallel you will have a very efficient 50W light. LOL maybe not even that efficient since the driver will be working in its shitty efficiency zone.

If you ran them in parallel you'd be splitting your current and providing each of the 3 boards with only ~350mA.

Meanwell drivers have inbuilt over voltage and over temp protection up to +90℃ (around 200°F) for the HLG-240H-C1050 so if you're worried about the driver, it's probably fine. If you want to bring temps down though it's cleaner to just stick on some heatsinks like these. Your reseller is recommending parallel wiring but I'm sure the intent was to mate them with a CV (constant voltage) driver rather than a CC (constant current) like you have.

Yea sounds about right if they get to hot they will shut off maybe I'll order new drivers and maybe a few more strips

Increasing the airflow around the surface of the driver is never a bad idea.
My drivers are always placed in areas of direct "wind".
It will substantially lower the drivers' operating temperature.
