DIY selves for 2x2.5x60 tent.

Hello all. I have a tent ( 2x2.5x6) that I want to put shelves in for vegging started veggies and such.

I’m thinking about a simple pvc build. 2-3 tier. Led board or the sort. But I’m not too sure on that or my lighting choices. I was thinking inexpensive ($ maybe 50-$65 boards but honestly the amount of information on the hundreds of configurations has me bewildered or some. It’s just too much

I know there is a lot of experience in the forum. So any help will be greatly appreciated.

So in short 2x2.5x5 tent needing shelving and led suggestions that can run in shelving without a problem.

Problem is the distance needed between light and plant.
So best option would be strips. The softer you run them the closer they can be. But the more of them you need to buy.

Maybe look for bridgelux gen 2 EB strips 2ft long.

Ok thanks. That should open my budget up pretty sure I can go lower bin and be just fine

Yeah I dont feel like building anything that I can possibly fry and have to replace. I need plug and play. I am going to share this information with first time indoor farmers and do not want what I'm doing to be too complicated. I know there is something out there that isnt diy.

There might be, but growing in a 5ft high tent is challenging at the best of times, you need 18" between a good LED and tops of plants, then you usually have a filter above your light.

So to split a 6ft into two 3ft high levels is very difficult and the only way I can see with LED is by running strips very soft and growing bonsais or training a plant flat.

Its very easy to build a light using pre made strips, its as simple as poking a wire into a connector.

If you want pre made then you will be able to find something that has a built in driver that is plug and play but its unlikely to put out as much light per watt as something you could make.

Most plug and play LEDs aimed at the growing market are fairly high output which is why you need a good distance between light and plant.
But you only need anything that's white light so look for something around 3000k-4000k, I would be tempted to go higher K to promote short plants

the process is proving to be too complicated. I really need this to be simple for expansion purposes. I might just stick to runing a HLG 100 V2 and be done with that.

I however need to increase my grow space some how

Your limited to that 2.5x2ft footprint I take it?

No that’s just a tent that I already have. I can run another 2x4x8 and that’s the most at the moment. I’m thinking about doing the 4 qb132 build for 125 on hlg. I think I can do. I think all ill need is a driver some connectors and sone 1in or 1/2 inch angle aluminum. As you can tell im a noob in this sector and frankly I need some help. Im working with investors and I dont want to blow the budget.

So if your planning to light your 2.5x2 with 4 QB132s then you want a sheet of aluminium plate , you could use aluminium L frame but it would be more work. 3mm plate should be easy and cheap.

150w would work if only on one level.

You could use a meanwell xlg-150-L-ab for 147w wired parallel

Or a HLG-185-C1400 ab/b wired in series for a bit under 200w.

You can also light the 2x4 with 4 more qb132s and just us the hlg-240-c1750 ab/b again wired series.

Really 3 mill will do. That’s amazing. I can def drill and tap the holes if needed even tho I will try to avoid that.
I have investors and I really need this to go well. That’s 325 cmh replacer lamp looks mighty fine and more than enough juice

Yeah the QB 132s can go up to 75w without heatsinking so mounting is all you have to do. Using the plate is just easier, 3 mm is very rigid.

The single light to replace the 315 is designed to put out a lot of light and has a beefy heatsink, you wouldn't want to use it in any situation which was low profile.
