DIY RDWC - First Timer - Any Advice Welcome

Is your only fault with them is the placement of the ridges? These just seemed like they were some of the more better reviewed buckets / containers to use.
Personally I think you should give used the 17gal HDX because they stay lower to the ground so you have more height in your tent. If you'd used the 8 gallon ez stores, might have been better, but the 13 is the exact same dimensions as the 8, just taller. They're really tall.... Also, hopefully you get lids with them...

I helped lockem build his system and he used the AP Kirk 5.3 gallon buckets I reconnected which are sweet. But you guys wanted 17gals.

See how dope it looks?:

Okay, then maybe I'll stick with the 17Gal HDX for this first grow and see how they work out :)

Got a link to those buckets? They are just as expensive as the other buckets. The totes are beyond cheaper haha. I'm going to look and see if I can find some quality - decently priced buckets to use.

Looks like these literally won't fit 4 in a 4x4.

Just use the 12 gals instead.

Do I want something that sits higher though? Or does that not particularly matter?

Honestly, if I were to build my system again, I would use the 8 or 13 gal EZ stores. They're super sturdy, flat, and the hinged lids have a nice spot to plumb your waterfalls in through the top.

The deciding factor for me was the fact that my water is VERY hard from the tap... like 700ppm, so I'm forced to use RO.

Those 5.3s are just as sturdy as an 8 gal ez store

Ya the rubber sheets work great for making your own gaskets. Here is the single site build I just finished with a water fall manifold. 965DCA38-F926-4C34-9EC0-A10A0DA3529F.jpeg
