DIY Luminux cxm-32

Hey guys!

So far this is what I'm going to use in a 2x2 grow tent. Can you guys recommend me/help me find a reflector for this setup?
The heatsink is a bit overpowered for running the led at 100W, but i dont think that causes any problem.

Glad you've chosen to not go with the cxb3590, it was defo the wrong choice for your plan.

I used to run 75w cobs and used 155mm pin heatsinks I think. Though I did oversize mine deliberately.

I would ask cobkits because I don't remember the size needed, but those are underrated for what your planning.

You don't need reflectors in a 2x2 tent and to be honest 4 cobs would be better unless your tent is a good height which most 2x2s are not.

You should also check out the meanwell XLG range because they are much cheaper than HLG and smaller and lighter.

It would be worth looking at eb gen 3 strips too, you can get higher efficiency for less money and run them closer to your plants if you are height restricted. Plus more even spread of light.

I spent the last month researching leds and stuff.. I finally settled with this and i wont change this! Fricking light setup gives me nightmares!:wall: I think this is a nice and correct light setup for 1 plant.

Well, you dont need 200w in a 2x2, you could cut it down to 75w per cob, run a fan on the heatsink or blow a fan across them to dissipate heat faster. That driver wont give 200w anyway.

Yesterdays plan of 2x cxb3590s would of seen you hitting low lm/w

Edit, I read the wrong dimensions on the heatsink, thought it was 80mm not 130mm.

Fine, I found a good supplier from NL that has Luminus cxm-32's in stock and its cheaper than the one i could get from china.
I'll combine this with a MW ELG-200-54b Its dimmable, so i can lower the wattage if needed. it should be more than sufficient for a 2x2/2.5x2.5 tent.

If yiurnin a tent dont bother with reflectors. They are a pricey addition and not really required in a small reflective tent.

cool, that would save me some bucks. I'll assemble the 2 units, and during veg stage, i'll only use 1 of them. It'll be enough for the veg cycle. After it goes to the flowering stage, i'll add the 2nd one.

You may as well use both for both stages.

If you just use one then your going to have to dim it right down because one cob parallel wired will get the whole current of the driver.

So since you will have to dim anyway you may as well use both cobs and not have to mess around rehanging and rewiring your set up.

It also gives you more points of light which gets you better penetration to lower sites and more even coverage overall.

Good idea, thanks!
