Hi guys!
What do you think about 3 vero29C with a hlg-320H-c1400.. it's around 290W for the 320W of the driver: is it a problem if I don't push it at max power?

That's 90% load. That is nearly perfect. At 80% you get maybe 1% more efficiency.
You are between 92 and 95% efficiency. If you are powering it with 110AC it's 95%, 220AC it's 95%.

Yes you go to the efficiency graph in the HLG datasheet and get the efficiency for your load percentage.
If the load is 100% the efficiency for a HLG-320H-C @ 230 VAC is 95%.
The formula for wall wattage would be Wattage of Load (320) / efficiency.
320/ .95 = 336 Watts

Most measure wall watts, that is the easiest method with a plug in watt meter, then calculate to get the LED wattage.

There you guesstimate the load using the wall watts to get the efficiency the multiply the wall watt by the efficacy.

Wall watts 336.8W x .95 = 320W
 
Hey guys, If I were to use ~400W of cxm-22 3rd gen, which seems to have a vF of 51V
What amp and what driver would you recommend?

Sry but I forgot one thing to ask! I use VERO29C SE version.. 3 in serie with the 320H-1400mA is it good? I read that they can support until 500V but I don't find documents in the website of BX talking about the max Voltage of the connector SE version. Thanks.

Ok I've posted this in different places. And haven't got an answer yet. I have these two power supplies. I have a ton of the signa 24v 100 watt ps. I can't seem to find a decent cob that runs on 24v. Any ideas?? Anyone??

There are 18V and 9V (2 in series) such as:
Cree CXA1512 & CXB1310
Citizen CLU701
Bridgelux V8

The supplies will automatically adjust down to the forward voltage. The HLG can additionally be adjusted down to improve efficiency.

You could use a current balancing circuit to drive multiple CoBs in parallel with one supply. Without current balancing, the CoBs would run imbalanced and thermal runaway is a real possibility. I have attached a couple of app notes that explain the parallel issues.

I don't find documents in the website of BX talking about the max Voltage of the connector SE version.

The voltage of the connector is not an issue if you do not hot plug them. LEDs should never be hot plugged (see attached PDF).
A connector only "sees" a voltage when there is an open circuit. When connected the voltage is very minimal, maybe a few mV.

The maximum voltage a connector to a CoB will see is the forward voltage of the CoB.

What would you recommend for that driver @NoFucks2Give . I want something I can use the entire grow. Without swapping so probably either 3500k or 4000k. I have a 48x24x63 tent. No more than 3 ladies at a time in it.

I am not a believer in veg / flower cycles. I believe in getting the most photons per watt for photosynthesis.

Red produces the most photons per watt and plants absorb more red and blue. The lower CCT (1750K - 3000K) and higher CRI (93-97) is what I typically look at.

I look for a spectral distribution curve where the red peak is to the right of 600nm and the curve falls below 40% at 550nm.

Below 40% @ 550nm is rare. The Cree 2700 & 3000K @ 93 CRI have a red peak at 630nm where the bridgelux peak at 600nm.
I am not a fan of Citizen and their links to the CLU701 datasheets are broken.

Just do not give any value to Lumens or lm/W in making your selection.

I think I'm gonna go with the cree 3000k. I just wish they were bigger cobs. Only being 18v they are small cobs. Like 15mmx15mm with only 6mm light base.
 
See i have set a citizens cluo48 12 12. 114 watt 8 chips meenweal driver 185 1500mah. 240watt hlg 1050mah. I have 120watt invanTronics to. 150 x4 36volt times 4 45watt ech of 4 chips
 
@NoFucks2Give What about using the meanwell 24v power supply and then using inline a dc to dc booster. Like this one. It will take 12vdc to 35vdc. Or in my case 24vdc to 35vdc. Which will give me more options for cobs. I can use the larger cobs that have bigger emitting screens.
