DIY LED Heatsinking Test w/ 10watt(x10) weight to watt RATIO

Yep it is nice to have a combo of weight and well-exposed surface area so the air is able to convect out from between the fins. A heavy, thick thermal path reduces the temp gradient from the heat source to the fins. So fin temp can be higher and LED temp lower. That higher fin temp makes for a more efficient transfer of the heat to the air. Passive cooling is definitely worth the trouble, especially as COB efficiency increases we can get the job done with much less heatsink.
