Nice one! How is that workin' out for ya? How much water do you go through in a day's time? I can really appriciate your little doo-dad because I live in a hot, dry, area myself.

What you have there is, basically, a DIY Evaporative cooler - or "Swamp Cooler". So you should benefit from the moisture as well as the cooling effect. It's all good! The faster you evaporate moisture into the air - the more cooling effect you create.

This looks like a really good, basic, model that could use some "Tweeking". Plus rep!

Looks Neat! the Idea is pretty original too.

I would suggest getting a Microprocessor Chip like an Arduino, and learn C to program your Fan to turn on and off at different speeds throughout the day etc. You can even add your light to this and make your whole grow spot remote controlled.

so i didn't end-up making one since there was a sale at home depot i got a humidifier for like 50 that has a uv lamp that apparently kills mold and spores in the air just hooked it up lets c if it works its funny tho cuz it works the exact same way as the homemade one..but ya if sum1 ends up making that one let us no if its any good!
