Dude, the shit is $30 a gallon, this is like making your own Pepsi at home instead of just buying the 2liter, il continue to support general hydroponics because after all, they are the cheapest Nutes out there, they work well, and they deserve to make a buck too, Just my 2cents

The big picture in this is that at this price you can afford to do water changes more frequently to keep all levels of nutes and pH near perfect at all times without having to use pH adjusters that only throw your solution out of its intended balance. My formula is for the extremely large producer who is used to rolling his own. If you have a moderate op going I wouldn't expect you to buy all the salts and start batching. Although the comment about it being akin to making your own Pepsi...c'mon... you never made chocolate milk from nestle powder? The only difference is that you have to weigh out the stuff and there are three powders, not one. Its very easy. I also agree that GH deserves to make a buck. I don't think everyone is going to jump on the DIY Nutes bandwagon anyway. For the large commercial producer DIY Lucas Nutes are definitely a big help. But not everybody needs it, of course. Just trying to put my best foot forward by adding to the communities knowledge base.
 
I think it's important to understand the ratios in any particular nutrient mix. It could really help us become familiar with the plants response to the various variables. Under my current system and approach to making various medium for microalgae, I modified many differ proven formulas for various strains both fresh and saltwater. Macro and Micro Nutrients, Trace Elements, Iron, & Edta and your off to the races. Making the nutrient stock mix and build on it is mandatory. I think it would apply here with all the various environmental and geno-variables.
