Distance to hang 240w Blackstar over plants

I have asked this question before but failed to print it. What is the correct distance to hang the 240w Blackstar over plants. I think the answer was:
14" over germination and seedlings
6" to 8" during growth
Have no idea about the flowering cycle.

use the heat-hand test.. place your hand over your plant if your hand feels discomfort, it's likely your plants will too

LEDs hardly put out any heat. You can put your hand right up to one without discomfort. But the light levels, not heat will damage the plants if too close.

Having said that, I don't know the answer to the OPs question but would like to know if anyone could shed some more light (pun not intended).

I have a BS 240 8"-12" is good.
