Noticed some dripping from pipes in the basement and discovered that they had some ice on them. Went outside to find ac pipes totally iced up. Going to google the problem and hopefully it's something I can fix. Worst case I'll need to have someone come and poke around outside and in the basement.
Any suggestions?

Currently having it defrosting. I'm worried about all the water dripping onto the furnace. Ill leave it completely defrost. Filter was clean. The fins outside could use some cleaning so Ill do that too before firing it up. Found a lead for a guy through a friend so this may be taken care of but, of course, dealing with it myself would be the better option.

only a couple things cause units to freeze.

1. dirty filter
2. dirty evap coil
3. overcharged
4.undercharged

being the filter is clean aand it was working properly before. your problem is more than likely, undercharged.
you are going to need an a/c guy to charge it up.

How old is the A/C unit ? Age and wear and tear can create many issues unless maintained properly .. Could have a very small leak somewhere in your lines as well .

I would try cleaning the coil good, not sure how handy u are but if u need a new condenser n coil it is easy to install, they come precharged with enough gas if your coil is 25 feet or less from condenser. Is your line set insulated?
